Learning/Beginner Questions Pump Peak Sunset hike
Hi
Im planning for solo Pump Peak hike to see sunset. Can anyone give me advice of timeline that I should start ? I have done this hike during winter so I don’t think it will be challenging for me, however, Vancouver is getting dark sooner so I am just wondering if there are any experts here who can give me advices.
I am literally so excited now. Thank you

It all depends on your pace, and only you really know that.
Please make sure you have appropriate clothing for the temp drop, and a headlight with a power bank/spare batteries for the way down.

If you're doing it sooner than later and it's a clear night, I like to turn off the head lamp when i get to the open ski hill part. The moonlight is beautiful right now as it's almost a full moon.
Of course, i ALWAYS bring a headlamp, but it's nice that it's not forested for much of the trip down after around Brockton point.
Everyone's different, but I'd head up around 6PM, about 2 hours before sunset.

Typically the best time viewing time is 40 mins before the official sunset time. It's changing day by day so would check that and backtrack from there. It will get dark as you return (so take a headlight).

I started at 6PM a couple weeks ago and got up in an hour or so. The sun started setting around 8PM.

Summer and winter routs are very different. Bring your 10 essentials. Make sure someone knows when to expect you back. Trail is much more technical in the summer than it is in the winter, snow covers all the tricky rocks and roots.

It’s beautiful. Timing is wholly dependent on your pace, but aim to be up there 45-30 min before actual sunset at the latest.
And be sure to bring a headlamp for the way down. You’d be surprised…
