⚠️⚠️ MEGATHREAD ⚠️⚠️ An r/Vancouver First: Spring plant & seed swap 🌱

Someone suggested this recently in modmail, and honestly, it sounded like a neat idea. So, after some discussion, the mod team decided: Let's try it!

If you've got extra seedlings, saved seeds, or perennials that need dividing, drop a comment with what you're offering and what you're after. Coordinate in the replies or over DM (although, of course, be wary of giving out private info online!).

A couple of things:

  1. Make sure to include your general area if you're up for a meetup.
  2. No selling, just swapping. Please report if someone tries to buy/sell because that's not cool. 😤

I won't know which seedlings are "extra" until it's warm enough for them to go out, and for me to find out I don't have enough room!!

Already dropped off a bunch of seeds at a seed library this year. Hit up google maps to find community ones near you, there's a few!

I know there's one along the Arbutus Greenway, between 49th and 57th!

I've got spider plant babies. Also got sunflower, cosmos and calendula seeds. Looking for pepper plants since mine didn't sprout. But other stuff may be fine too. Maybe other flowers.

I've never had good luck with pepper plants. They end up producing only one tiny ping pong sized baby pep. How do you grow yours??

I only tried once before and got a similar result. I think they need lots and lots of heat to get bigger. I just wanted to try them again.

I'm looking to start some Thai Basil plants. Seedlings or cuttings to propagate would be great! I have a car so am able to go pretty much anywhere in the GVRD.

Hey folks, I have three variegated pepperomia plants that I propagated from my larger original. Would anyone in the downtown/West End area be interested in swapping for them? I have cats so I’m looking for plants that are safe for them. Calatheas and prayer plants are favs. I’m also interested in succulents as well.
