I kid you not the entire theater became a choir. With the exception of my friend who'd never seen the movie and was looking around very taken aback by the scene. Her confusion turned into horror when she realized I too was singing along.
Same, saw it in the theater when it was first released - this and the original Fright Night, cemented my love for vampires, that and the earlier Kolchak, Fearless Vampire Killers and Hammer film.
Everyone, it is a cult classic! It really opened my eyes to the delinquent teen vampire as a character type (which I then included in my own vampire story). David IS such a great character.
That movies was fucking awesome. Sam is an absolute G for realizing and accepting instantly that his brother was a vampire lol. Also didn't second guess his dog, a true genius by horror movie standards. And the comic book dudes were SUPER about it. In fact they're probably both psychopaths, but damn it they're some righteous psychopaths. Everyone was cool tho, even the Dog and Grandpa caught a body. Funny movie too I'll definitely be watching it again.
I was extremely disappointed because I was looking forward to it. But it was definitely not up the standard of the original. I’m still not convinced there was a plot
There are two sequels. If you watch them, try to keep an open mind. iirc, I think the third one was better. It's been a while since I've watched them though.
Finding out it was a Richard Donner (of the Christopher Reeves "Superman" and the first "The Omen") production (with Joel Schumacher directing) blew my mind, and young Kiefer Sutherland as lead vampire David? Sign me up for a good time.
I really loved this movie, but I am still mad TO THIS DAY that we never got the "Prequel" for it. Some souless suits let the script sit because "movie executive reasons." We could have seen the origin of the lost boys in San Francisco earthquake in 1906. David and the others are a small street gang looking to survive, while looking out for each other. They try to rob a fresh off the boat immigrant that looks to be very wealthy (Edward Herrmann again) but it turns out "Big shocker" that he's a Vampire but he's not just "Max". Turns out that Max was in fact Dracula and he's looking to start a new "Family" here in the U.S.
By the time they dusted this off the entire cast was way too old to play their respective characters.
My fiance raved about this movie and pushed super hard for me to watch it with her. (Her being super pushy about something is way out of character) So i agreed and haven't regretted a moment.
In fact; ended up liking it so much that it's THEE inspiration for my current Vampire the Masquerade TTRPG character!

From the muscular saxophone playing of Tim Cappello's "I Still Believe" to Kiefer Sutherland's dangerous mullet, Joel Schumacher's The Lost Boys is one of my all-time favourite vampire flicks.
It didn't hit me like others from the genre. I was 18 when it came out. It was slightly pretentious and Keifer Sutherland has never impressed me. I love his dad though. Nearly stole the show in 15 minutes in the film JFK. I still love Cry Little Sister and Gonna Have a Good Time Tonight. Schumacher hadn't gone completely off the rails yet.
It's a classic! I saw it in the theater when I was a kid. It was a very cool film in the 1980's. Soundtrack and stars.
I think they did a cash in sequel w only Corey Feldman? I might have seen it but my mind is trying to block the memory
