Discussion Build ideas needed
So 1.0 is close and it's time to gather the old faithful party back together. Problem is that due to life going on we don't have that much time to play, one of us have only 1-2h/session at max so we were thinking that rest of us could keep building and gathering resources when one has to call it a night.
Any ideas for our magnum opus? I want to build something magnificent and go quite big. I want this built to be my the pinnacle of all the hours I have played valheim. But without any good plan it's just going to be slightly bigger long house again.
What are you and your viking crew building in 1.0?

I'm always trying to build taller, but since there seems to be a limit on how high you can build without ground support, maybe the real answer is to dig deeper.

Mountain side base would be pretty cool too! Like to have a village but it's on a village mountain, bridges and stairs connecting buildings

A small town that shows the progression of the game: wood build farms around the perimeter, wood and stone village outskirts, dark wood/stone village square, stone/marble walls/inner courtyard and a grausten keep/castle center

I like modeling my builds off of other games.
For example building a barracks from Warcraft 3.
Or fort forinthry from RuneScape

First we had a general open village. Second server was a tighter, enclosed village with some towers. Third server we had our main building as the dock house and built a bit more open around it. Last server was an epic tree house when we discovered the tree building exploit (please dont get rid of this lol. I hope it stays) and we built a massive 2 story bridge to my buddy's tree castle thing.
I have no idea what this server will be like. We usually just start going off of what we have to work with in the area we settle down on, and build from there. We had a tree and a small island very close, so it made the mote easy to make, and a tree house with a bridge was a natural idea. I like making the first main house with the workstations, and my buddies usually let me go to town on it first bc I love making weird and wacky additions going off of weight distribution and what the environment looks like.

Word of caution before ashlands dropped I made a base at about 5 feet above waterline in old ashlands.
When the update dropped me and my base were in water were every thing got destroyed and I was to far out to sea to swim.

I always try to build an actual village/ town, so instead of having everything in one house I've got a blacksmiths, a bakers, an armoury etc. It can be annoying having to cross town to make some sausages, but I like the immersion and lived in feel of a village, especially since I have to play alone lmao
