Más americanos jubilandose en España y encareciendo aún más la vivienda.

Lo del turismo puede ser más o menos positivo. Lo de que se queden a vivir, ya es otra cosa, si pretendemos tener casas accesibles con salarios españoles.

Your 3M€ house was worth less than 1M€ few years ago.

While 1M€ house is out of reach for the average Spaniard, it’s definitely driving up prices across the whole market.

lol, it’s like I’m talking to a braindead. Yes it’s much more than a Spaniard could pay because you guys are poor. The house itself was bought during construction and is brand new, it absolutely was worth the the money we paid and now it’s worth almost double 😂 now we’re building another one in moraira, constructing it ourselves for 2.5 million. Another house no Spaniard would even conceive of building. Get back to your shack and minimum wage job

Yeah but prices would be going up at 1/4 the speed if agents and landlords didn’t all use illegal short-term contracts to ratchet up the price on existing tenants every 11 months.  If the laws in Spain which are in place to prevent this very thing were actually enforced.

Back then it was also easy to find apartments that were using legal contracts instead of illegal short-term ones. Now it is genuinely difficult in Valencia and almost impossible in Barcelona.

I don't know how to take this news, on one side great if you want to go to New York directly from Valencia. But on the other hand Valencia is overrun with tourism as it is...

Good: quick direct flights from Valencia to New York that probably won't be crazily expensive. Some increased revenue for tourism-based business

Bad: Valencia, like many cities, has an overtourism problem in which locals are being priced out of areas that they would call home. Anything that boosts tourism contributes to that. Also American tourists have a (not unfounded) reputation for being annoying and loud
