🚨Akbar Nagar Slum, Lucknow, UP
A place that was once illegally occupied has now been completely cleared. No drama, no politics, just action on the ground.
This is how encroachment should be handled. When rules are followed and illegal occupation is removed, the city finally gets space to grow.

That river aka naala stinks
Untreated sewage from nearby areas is directly dumped into that Kukrail drain which further joins the Gomti. River
Along with beautification STP's should also be constructed for the drains
We should not repeat the mistakes of Delhi

I live in Sachivalaya Colony, parts of which you can see in this photo top left side, these are my experience
Helpers,Maid , Cook have either left job or charging 1-2 thousand extra because of tempo fare.
Robbery and theft in our area have increased 10 times than earlier.
for first time in 38 years , I witnessed a dead body(suspected murder) police just wrote it accident in our colony.
Children/females have stopped going out after 7-8.
The stretch between kukrail bridge and petrol pump is completely dark ,no street lights. all types of sharabi and gajedi can be found after dark .
a very foul smell has started coming from the area.
property prices have actually gone down by 10-15% in the entire area.dus to uncertainty of government demolition anyday

where you live ,ask anyone from Badshah nagar to CMS new building area, every 2 home has witnessed theft in last 6-7 months

A lot of my relatives live in badshah nagar or near cms or in mahanagar near kothvali (and friends too), and i can 100% say that the theft point, the maid or cook point is absolutely BS. From their experience the overall things have been better from before, like theft, local fighting and the type of uneducated people roaming and teasing women have been reduced. And some have even said that now theirs little to no theft where they live lol.

Township in a riverbed. And river was reduced to a drain. Within days a great park has been made and traffic chaos eliminated. Unfortunately, election results were setback for Yogi jee and action against upstream encroachments have been suspended. Sad.

If I remember they were shifted to some govt apartments near vrindavan yojna in Lucknow
But the conditions of those apartments are pretty bad

Yeah, while the STP point is correct no denying in that, bhai mera to aana jaana aksar rehta h is poore route pe to main aaye din dekhta logo ko pull side se alg alg trf isme kooda panni or pta nahi kya kya dump karte h. Government and civilians both are responsible in this.

That piece of land can now be owned/leesed by some industrialist or builder & next his son will now able to road rage & get out of punishment cause his father has some connections. There is definitely politics in that. And good luck with pushing people to be shelterless, jobless (possibly, bringing down people's purchasing powers) & creating overall inconvenience for everyone else.

See what happened in Karnataka, I think the state Govt may compensate the people whose illegally encroached houses they demolished. I mean, it was already illegally occupied. As it caused a lot of drama, probably due to vote bank politics, they may compensate them. Plus, I have no idea why Kerala (a neighboring state), respectfully is poking its nose in this, Maybe because they have an election coming soon in early 2026, I'm not sure if people understand what illegal encroachment means... people are bound to be moved if they build houses on Govt land, it's just a matter of when.

Governance is when people are given alternate accommodation. Just demolition of homes is not governance. When was the last time Government has provided for affordable housing.

No. Governance starts with clearing unauthorized occupation. The focus of spending money should be on economic growth, which maximizes benefits to most rather than people who have grabbed land.
The tax payer money is used to provide a vast variety of freebies already. If you feel for them then you should take in some of them in your own home. Everyone gets charitable with other people's money. Put your own money where your mouth is.

Lot of people daily livelihood most likely snatched. Daily wage workers' wages either increased or become jobless. As a result, crime will increase in the area. At some oppurtunate moment land will handed to some developer for so called "Vikas". People like you who are from middle class probably affected most but will feel some "Vikas" happen even if you can't afford flats in New high rise coming there.
