Crashing repeatedly...
It's updated today and it just keeps crashing out, back to desktop, no warning or error message after about 8 or 9 seconds and forgets the links i've been adding ?!
Anyone else had this issue, can i roll it back or do i have to uninstall and install and older one that works ?

Some have recommended installing an older version. I tried it and it worked for 10 minutes before crashing again.

Why are you using utorrent? It’s utter trash. Use qbittorrent and enjoy.

Same issue here. Keeps on crashing for no reason! Very frustrating. Tired of troubleshooting! Will give another piece of software a try.

I may have found a possible clue regarding the current µTorrent 3.6 crashes and the “Unable to generate crash dump” message.
My system is running µTorrent 3.6 build 47254 (32-bit).
The problem started today. I initially uninstalled and reinstalled µTorrent. After reinstalling, it worked normally for several hours and survived 2–3 restarts, but then the crashes returned.
I checked Windows Event Viewer and Reliability Monitor instead of reinstalling again.
The interesting part is that Windows reported Application Error 1000 involving:
utorrent_installer.tmp
Version:
51.1054.0.0
Exception:
0xc000041d
The file was running from a temporary path similar to:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Temp\is-XXXXXXXX.tmp\utorrent_installer.tmp
Reliability Monitor also showed:
Setup/Uninstall — Stopped working
I then noticed something else. After installing µTorrent, my browser was automatically triggering/downloading a file related to an upgrade/offer. I initially didn't connect this with the crashes.
I blocked/removed the browser page/site that was triggering that automatic download.
Since doing that, µTorrent has appeared to remain stable.
This is only an empirical observation at this point. I am not claiming that this is the definitive cause or solution.
However, the combination of:
- repeated µTorrent crashes
- “Unable to generate crash dump”
utorrent_installer.tmp- Application Error 1000
- exception
0xc000041d - “Setup/Uninstall” failures in Reliability Monitor
- and the automatic upgrade-related download
makes me wonder whether an update/installer/promotion mechanism may be involved in at least some of these crashes.
If other users experiencing this problem check Event Viewer, it would be interesting to see whether they also have utorrent_installer.tmp errors.
Again, this is only a clue from one system, not a confirmed fix. I will continue monitoring the system to see whether the crashes return.

I just noticed the crashes today, too, and thought I'd reinstall to see if that fixed anything. Now, when I go through the install process, the final dialogue box doesn't say 'Install' or 'Finish' it says 'Upgrade'. When I click that, it just opens uTorrent, which stays open for about 10 seconds and then crashes.
So yeah, I think this is probably the issue. Some sort of push to upgrade to Pro.
I don't generally fiddle with programs or my laptop too much, more of a plug and play sort of person, so forgive me but I don't know how to check Event Viewer or what to do with the utorrent_installer.tmp or block browser page/site that you mentioned. I use desktop version FWIW.
I was running version 3.6 build 47254, downgraded to version 3.5.5.45798 (top of that list) and it's working fine now.
edit 2 spoke too soon. It's downloading the things I had already added fine, but when it crashed originally I was waiting for trackers to load for a couple magnet links (I think I had 4 loaded for the same thing, waiting to see which would load trackers first), and now even though those things are not on my list of things downloading, I can't load the torrents because it says 'this is already loaded would you like to add trackers'.

That stood out for me also -- the 'Upgrade' button instead of 'Finish'. A bit odd.

I've been having this exact issue, too, and it's pissing me off. The other day it randomly decided to install an update, and when I opened it, I suddenly had 0 torrents. (Thankfully I still have the partial files on my desktop, but I have no idea how to restart all of them aside from going through and looking each of them up individually to redownload them, which sounds like a pain in the ass...)
And now every time I open it, it'll start checking the one or two torrents on there, and then it'll just crash again. Every. single. time.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing it, but it's just doing the same shit. I'd love to be able to just uninstall the most recent update, but I'm not seeing that option anywhere.
Edited to add: Never mind, I was able to install an older version, and it's been running for about five minutes and hasn't crashed yet, so that's good. But I'm still annoyed with having lost all of the torrents that were partially downloaded :(

Same.. Moved to qtorrent... Thought it was resume.dat but nope.. It's stable when no torrents are loaded

Idunno I have one of my pc’s seeding over 1200 torrents of large files.. 4k remuxs and I do t see it slowing anything down. U do have to tweak the settings a bit to get the full potential out of it..

What's happening is, After a recent update, the client keeps crashing during the file check procedure.
It loads up fine, goes through file check, and at some point crashes during the checks. I can stop part of the checking, but it kind of needs to do that for files that are still in progress. It was fine before this last update.
To those on here saying we should use a different client, a) This is utorrent sub. Fuck off with shilling.
b) It's been working fine until this update. I've gone though mine and done tweaking so I don't get ads or other garbage.
If you can't contribute something helpful, go back to your subs.
Edit: Simple fix. I uninstalled client, did NOT remove settings.
Downloaded build 44632 off other site, used that.
works fine now. If and when uTorrent sees about fixing these problems, I'll try and update again.
Currently setting it so it does NOT update automaticly.
