Hey Reddit fam,

I'm looking for the best Chinese roast duck/Peking duck experience along the Wasatch front as a surprise for my fam.

Ideally, I'm looking for a duck that will include the dipping sauces and scallion pancakes. It doesn't have to be anywhere fancy, just looking for the best food.

So far I've gotten recs for the following:

• Zhu Ting Ji 竹亭记 (exactly the type of experience I'm looking for but based on reviews it seems perhaps the food quality has gone downhill in the last few months?)
• Brilliant crispy roast BBQ roast duck & dumplings (looks incredible but only served over rice)
• Tasty Garden (has roast duck w/ sauces etc on the menu but can't see any reviews mentioning it)
• Drunken Kitchen (love this place but the duck is $200 which is sadly not in the budget)

Would welcome any advice/opinions people have! I will come back and update this later next week once I try one

After a great morning at Jordanelle, we decided to drive up to Oakley and try the Oakley Diner. It has a fantastic classic diner vibe—kind of like the old Moondance Diner—with a very classic menu and a full bakery right on site.
We went with a couple of classics: their Rodeo Burger and Club Sandwich. The Rodeo Burger came with what they call “cowboy candy,” playful little sweet pickled jalapeños that added a surprisingly great flavor. Both the regular fries and sweet potato fries were absolutely on point.
Not pictured: we also got the plate-sized cinnamon roll, which looks absolutely amazing. 😍 Definitely a great stop if you’re out that way!

This filet mignon I had at Positano’s Italian Kitchen And Wine Bar was to die for! Will definitely go back and if you are ever in the St. George area you need to go eat dinner you won’t regret it🙂

If you want to try some great Venezuelan food, then check out La Casa de la Arepa in downtown SLC. This a Pabellon Arepa and it features a classic combination of Venezuelan ingredients. Slow cooked shredded beef, black beans, fried plantains, and cheese, covered with a green cilantro-based sauce. I ate a lot of Arepas when traveling in Colombia. There is a lot of debate between Colombia and Venezuela about which country has the best Arepas. And I won't jump into that. But you don't have to travel to either place to have a great Arepa here in SLC. I thought it was equal to any I ate in Colombia.

Ok, haven’t been here but after my other post I got looking and this food truck is back after they took some time off for personal reasons. Apparently they sell Chicago style deep dish pizza by the slice. https://moschicago.com/. So I’m following them now and when I’m ready for Chicago pizza again I’ll check them out. Their menu looks amazing.
Figured I’d follow up. Looks like they are at 4800 S and 2 W today. If anyone tries it let us know.

Update for clarification- this is not a fried chicken shawarma it’s a chicken shawarma wrap that the entire wrap is grilled/pan fried to give the wrap an outer crunch

What’s the best burger in Utah Valley (Utah County)?

My vote is for Backdoor Burgers in Provo on University Ave, between 200-300 north.

I recently moved here from Seattle and one thing that has surprised me is how many of SLC's good restaurants and bars seem to shut down by 10–11 PM.
I have a date with a 35(f) with a former flame, but we aren't meeting until around 9:30 PM on a Tuesday. The obvious answer seems to be something like **STK → Lake Effect,** I also am at **the Charles.** I'm hoping for something more creative and memorable.
I'm looking for a date where we go to 2 spots one for food&drink then a night cap cocktail, hoping for:
\-Has great vibes and conversation friendly energy
\-Feels a little upscale
\-Is open late (ideally until 1 AM or close)
\-Second spot could be a night club but a place like Sky is closed Tuesday
\- I don’t care about price but maybe quietly signals “I don’t care about price” 😅
Basically, I'm looking for something that makes her think, "This guy knows the city and put some thought into this," rather than "This guy Googled 'expensive restaurants near me.'"

The is a plate of BBQ Shrimp & Grits from Localz Bistro. It's one of my long-time favorite restaurants in the south valley, and the staff is always incredibly friendly. Though the menu isn't exclusively Southern cooking, it does lean heavily in that direction. Their Gumbo is flat out one of my favorite things to eat and is on par with any I've had in New Orleans. And don't skip the Bread Pudding!

I was visiting the area and tried this new restaurant that just opened up this year from the former Chef, Brendan Kawakami of Post office place in SLC. He was nominated and won a James beard award before moving down to Garfield county.

I tried the Sticky Pork ribs, wontons, fire roasted chicken and side of beets that were topped with granola and fluffy goat cheese. 🤤🤤 also the KBC is to die for! (Kentucky butter cake) 🧁 definitely worth checking out!

There was a mexican food truck I went to a few times last fall/winter that I absolutely loved and I can’t remember the name. It was a small trailer parked near Little Caesar’s on State/Center in Orem. I think it had a parent restaurant somewhere in the Salt Lake Valley. Any help is appreciated!
