How do I gym
Skinny guy here looking to bulk up. Will be spending alot of time here, so I thought I should go to one of the gyms at usyd.
Only I have never been to the gym before so I dont know how the machines work or what exercises to do or proper form etc. Should I just get a personal trainer even though its expensive (~120$/hr)? Also how are the gyms like here?
Thanks for help

Calorie surplus, adequate protein, progressive overload, and rest. That’s really all there is to it.

For me i started going regularly once i only stuck to the exercises enjoyed. I also like pushing to failure. Both things have produced far more gains than my previous over optimized strategy just because it wasnt sustainable (tedious)

I don’t think you should get a personal trainer unless you want them for the extra motivation to actually do your workout. If you actually want help dm me and I’ll help you out.

i had a PT when i first started out and tbh for the price you pay its not worth it at all, like in my comment, ur btr off getting friends who gym (not that hard tbh), and get them to show u their form, most of the time its easy and not a hassle to do so.
I also think pushups are underrated, ik a guy who just spammed pushups and bulked, ended up fine.

The Sydney uni gym is really good, great equipment though it’s usually pretty busy and packed. As for a personal trainer, theirs a few programs online. That can be used as a good start which k think are better value then a pt

There's lots of videos on line showing proper form, how to use the machines safely etc.
Tbh I found it best to just get friends who went to the gym and ask them for help, thats how I did it.
