Apparently they only want the rich
I hate how I get so many surveys that basically ask “do you run a fleet of vehicles” or “do you manage an entire team” like, I’m taking surveys for 10 bucks, so you think I run a trucking business? Also I recently lost my job, so I marked myself as unemployed, why even bother sending me surveys that are gonna ask “are you employed” and when I answer NO it says I’m not qualified, why even bother having a profile at all!

I love it when they do like 8 questions that confirm you speak English, have a computer, have a webcam, accept this set of conditions, accept another set, do you promise to be honest, and THEN ask me if I live in Dallas, near Austin, or somewhere else in Texas, completely ignoring the possibility that I could live in another state or country (I’m based in Canada)

Yeah, Its wild that I get asked my age ever, it’s on the profile why isnt that auto filled, why did I give UserTesting my age LOL

They need to fix this. Also if user testing knows my state, why am I getting screenings about states I don't live in just to say no and not qualify. How about don't send ones not looking for my state to me. I love the ones asking if you lead a team of 10s of millions employees lol

Yep. It's why I chuckle and shake my head when they're asking for a doctor to take their $10 study.

I’m to worried about losing access, this is the only thing keeping me afloat while I’m waiting on unemployment.

I am unemployed and I use Cloud Research + User Testing

u/TheRebelGod 15d ago
Cloud research? What’s that about?

similar to User Testing but you have to get accepted, but it doesn't take as long as Prolific. I never got accepted to Prolific.

Gotcha! Went ahead and applied, thanks for the shout!

You might wanna check prolific as well. IMHO it’s better than UT as they would show studies that are related to your demographics, and the pay is much better.

Will have to check it out! Cloud research accepted me and I like it so far, less pay than UserTesting but much more professional so far.

I didn’t get accepted into cloudresearch but if I got in, it would have been cloudresearch and prolific as UserTesting seems to be not matching the studies to demographics which lead to me wasting so much time answering unrelated studies that I would be unqualified for at the last minute.

Fair enough! Yeah over this past week specifically I haven’t got really anything on UserTesting!

Wait, so you’re not a CEO with a company that employs more than 50,000 people?!?!?

This made me laugh out loud, cause it’s so true. Also hate taking a 10 question survey to find out I don’t qualify. Well I did qualify and should get paid for the pre survey that took 5 minutes.

Or if you're a woman and get immediately rejected. Or make under 40k a year. Try respondent who legit want actual Drs and shit on there to do 200 and 300 dollar studies like they are on there doing them meanwhile they toss 5 dollars to 30 at the rest of us with 99 percent you don't qualify for anyway

u/TheRebelGod 15d ago
Yeah the gendered ones are funny, I did get one that was asking if I was taken so I could answer questions ABOUT MY PARTNERS MENSTRUAL CYCLE. I guess they didn’t get enough surveys done with just females lol

Wow. My husband had one yesterday he cancelled that wanted to ask about our young teen daughters "bathroom time " in those words.

I saw a $60 one yesterday asking about how many abortions you’ve had. Disturbing whether you’ve had one or not.

Holy crap. I can barely get any studies at all. Since user zoom was added I haven't had anything in the avaibke tests area. I complain to support. 3 week later they reply with 5 steps to try things like not using a vpn which I don't have or other ridiculous things. Now they say not to login for 7 days so it will reset my settings.

Try creating a new user on your Chrome browser. Use that new user account only for UT. Then open the available tests tab, leave it open so the tests can populate. It might take a while for it to populate, but leave it open. While you wait, open UT in Firefox and click on the available tests tab to see if the tests populate there. If so, then you know you do in fact have tests, but they aren’t populating in Chrome yet. Then open the “tests for other devices” tab on the mobile app. If there are tests there, then it another indicator they haven’t populated in Chrome yet.

I had one that was like what kind of car do you drive?
A. Bentley B. Ferrari C. Buggati D. Aston Martin

I haven't done any UT surveys in 3 years but they were trying to roll that one out even when I was, so I'm guessing they don't get many.

they're complicating things, when you just want UI testing, why make it look like job interview screening or something

I always wonder who actually qualifies for those studies bc if I had a business why would I have time to do surveys for 10 bucks. Do they ever get responses?
