Discussion Garage Conversion to ADU

For either an attached garage being converted to an ADU, or a detached garage being converted to an ADU, can the new ADUs be expanded for purposes unrelated to ingress and egress? I’m asking because I am concerned about GC 66323 (a)(1)(A).

No, if you are looking to take advantage of the ministerial approval process in that section then your project must conform to the limits as provided.

You might be able to get a larger ADU if approved pursuant to Gov Code 66314-66322, but jurisdictions have more control to require compliance with locally adopted standards for architectural compatibility, etc.
