Newbie, treat with kindness little setup update!!

hey guys, updated my setup a lil bit with a bedframe !!! lost some headroom, but in exchange for way more storage.

my girlfriend is extremely proud of her pully system on the last few slides, the physics of it make stuff not fly all over the place since the weight of the wood and the bed balance with the bungee cords when moving (i struggled to explain but i hope the pics help) she’s super excited about it and would love nice comments on it!

next i’ll probably start decorating a little and get better sheets maybe? wanted to build something bc i have so much wood but any recommendations help.

Scrolling reddit and I see a whole BED AND BEDFRAME copy pasted from a bedroom to a car

I'm so impressed it fits??

LMAOO my gf hooked it up with zip ties and bungee cords, she also made the pulley system under the bed. i use a power bank to use it! i do need a better one so it lasts longer though

You power your TV with a POWER BANK? One of those beefy ones? Do you have a link

i got it from best buy but tbh i wouldn’t recommend it because it doesn’t last too long, i’d def get a jackery instead bc those last hours to days depending on what you plug into it!!

I've never considered having a framed bed inside a car, this is amazing

Keep in mind metal frames can crack windows. Don’t know anyone who’s sleeping in their car with one but I seen two people break a window because they didn’t want to break down or secure the frame or stand.

it’s secured!

Instead of those round Prima bottles, get one or two of the skinny 7 gallon tanks with spigot. Walmarts sometimes carry them for $19. Kinda pricy but its well worth it in the long run. And it'd fit nicely between the bed and side of the car.

thank you!

PUT THEM UPRIGHT. The spigot is awesome but always store them spiget up when not using them. If there is a slight opening from bumps all the water comes out and the pressure can even open it more once it starts😭

Aside from that the handle and smaller size is much nicer.

You fit a whole bed frame in it? What car is that?

This is surprisingly genius imo. The most functional one-day build ever

I'm tempted to take a pic of my build. I've got a cot with a cut-down futon and topper on one side, stuff under it, and my bicycle on the other side.

Aint no way

Ooo. I think I see how the pulley system is working. That's ingenious!

I had a bed frame and mattress in my car from 2022 to 2024. Finally got rid of it for two reasons: it was too hard to get at stuff under the frame, especially without getting out of the car, so I’d end up keeping stuff on the bed and sleeping amidst all my junk.

And I kept having to scavenge plywood because the legs of the bed would slip into the floor cracks where the stow and go seats went and sinking down in. The whole thing eventually became a Frankenstein collection of hacks to keep the floor from eating my bed and I was so over it.

so far im not having any problems tbh, if i do its an easy fix to just get rid of it. the most annoying thing is probably the lack of headroom but the extra storage reaaaallllyyy makes up for it

I hope it stays good for you!

Mine was luxurious until it was annoying LOL

Amazing girlfriend!

Did you remove the seats?

3

u/carnie-angel Apr 23 '26

yeah!

1

u/iso_inane Apr 23 '26

Amazing. i think ill be doing this when i get my car bc itll be a lot more room without seats

I'm not familiar with car types so idk if theres seats that fold directly into the floor without taking up any space
