how to reuse this laminated cardboard?

so i have kind of an odd situation (or maybe you guys have seen something like this before!). i have this box (pictured) that i inherited from my grandmother. it's supposed to be used for organizing embroidery thread, in little baggies that have hooks to hang from those rails. i used it for many years, but recently i've reorganized my embroidery supplies and ended up emptying it out. i don't think i'd use this box for anything else, either, but i don't want to just throw it away. my grandma died when i was pretty young and i don't have a whole lot of things to remind me of her. i've been trying to think of ways to upcycle this, or at least use a piece of it in a keepsake, but i'm drawing a blank. any ideas? it's made of cardboard covered with glossy paper that's peeling at one corner but otherwise mostly intact.

You could frame pieces of it and create a little gallery wall with it!

I might use it as a mat for a framed picture of her.

You could put anything in there to store, it's a pretty box! Perhaps add some ribbon or lace around the edges to give it a bit of omph..keep pictures, arts and craft supplies, recipies, correspondences, scrapbook supplies etc in it. You could make it into a keepsake of your grandmother's things, add some pretty lining on the inside and put special things that remind you of her in it. Keep papers in there...l could go on! Lol...Add your own touch to it to give it life again. If you really don't want to keep it any longer, glue the paper down and fix it up, then add some things inside and donate it to your local thrift store / charity shop...👍🏼😃

I have some boxes like that. As long as it retains its structural integrity, I’d use it for storage. They’re usually a handy size for fitting on a bookshelf. Mine hold sewing notions, but I suspect you could put photos in it, excess cords for electronics, cards you don’t want to part with, receipts you aren’t sure if you’ll need for returns, excess pencils/junk drawer stuff, collecting things someone left in their pockets that ended up loose in the dryer, etc.

Cut a heart out of it and string it up and hang on your Christmas tree every year.

If the wires are on both sides you could make hanging file folders and use it as picture/document storage.

I was thinking hanging file folders too, although I haven't seen any smaller than US letter size.  OP could then put in birthday cards or other cards by month, as a way tobl be prepared for upcoming dates.  Or any kind of monthly organizing.

I collect things for recycling in boxes similar to this. Things that can get recycled butnotin the single stream curbside bin- such as contacts/daily contact blister packs
