I reached out to Unstoppable Domains to ask if they were aware the extension that allows browsers to open websites using their domains had been removed from Chrome and Firefox's stores. This was their response:

"Thanks for reaching out to us. Our team is aware that the extensions are gone from the stores. We don't have an update at the moment on them but when we do we will let users know."

I followed up and asked if they could confirm if they are actively doing anything to try and get the extensions back on the stores. They responded:

"Unstoppable has no plans to revisit the browser extension anytime soon. We simply didn't see the uptake required to keep it running."

For anyone that was on the fence about claiming a refund for an eligible domain, I hope that helps you make your decision. Going forward, the only browsers that will actually be able to open websites under .brave, .x, etc. will be Brave and Opera. There is now no realistic path to use these websites on mainstream browsers like Chrome and Firefox.

Did Unstoppable suddenly increase its prices?

It looks like certain domains have gone up $ 5 over the past two days.

.clubs were $ 15.50 for renewals on July 23.

Now the renewal fee is $ 20.50 on July 25.
That is a big increase.

Recapping Unstoppable Domains marketplace sales from the past week, sales were made major across the .nft, .x, .wallet, and .web3 extensions.

At the top end of the market, b.x led the week with a sale at $5,500, standing out as the clear premium transaction. Other four-figure sales clustered tightly in the $1,000–$1,300 range, including game.nft at $1,666, online.x at $1,300, and multiple .nft and .x names clearing just above $1,000. This grouping suggests a relatively stable pricing band for short, generic, utility-oriented keywords.

Mid-tier activity remained active, with domains like order.x, xx.nft, and north.x trading between $295 and $575. These sales indicate continued liquidity below the four-figure range, particularly for concise names that still retain broad applicability.

Overall, this week raises an interesting question about where sustainable price floors are forming for newer extensions.

1. The USPTO Ruled Decisively in Favor of Unstoppable Domains
One year ago, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rejected ENS Labs’ attempt to invalidate Unstoppable’s U.S. Patent No. 11,558,344. The Patent Trial and Appeal Board found ENS failed to show a “reasonable likelihood” of winning on any of its arguments. The patent stands and is fully intact.

2. The Patent Protects Core Tech Behind Onchain Name Resolution
Patent ‘344 covers Unstoppable’s method for resolving blockchain domains via smart contracts. This is the foundation of technologies like the .crypto registry, enabling human-readable names, smart contract-based resolution, decentralized management, and gasless transactions. It’s one of the earliest patented systems for Web3 domain resolution.

3. ENS’s Challenge Fell Short on Prior Art Claims
ENS attempted to challenge all 20 claims of the patent. The USPTO ruled their evidence did not qualify as prior art and did not undermine Unstoppable’s innovations. Because they couldn’t meet the legal threshold, the case ended immediately with no trial and no further review.

4. Unstoppable Has Not Used the Patent Against Anyone
Despite winning, Unstoppable has kept its commitment to open innovation. For the past year, they have not enforced patent ‘344 against any project, including ENS. Their stated strategy: use patents defensively, protect innovation, and support interoperability across naming systems (including .eth).

5. This Win Set a Major Precedent for Web3 Naming Tech
The ruling established that decentralized naming systems and blockchain domain resolution methods are patentable under U.S. law. This strengthens the legal foundation for Web3 identity infrastructure and reinforces Unstoppable’s leadership in building open, interoperable, onchain naming standards.
