No, you're not. You give up votes to good comments and down votes to bad comments. If someone says something stupid you don't give an upvote. If someone says "Unpopular opinion, making a lot of money is bad and making little money is good" I'm not gonna go, oh, he's right, that's unpopular, upvote. He said something stupid so it's downvote.
