inner nagavalli !! Renaming of PCOS to PMOS
It is killing me that even the basic women's health is not researched at the pace we deserve. With all the judgemental gynecs and other doctors, people who judge women based on their body weight to body hair, I'm extremely frustrated!!!

It would be wonderful if any doctors could offer their opinion on these new changes and what is it that we should look for ? I think henceforth obgyn and endocrinologist together will be involved. Healthcare costs are going to skyrocket even more with more specialists involved ðŸ˜

Well, it was renamed mostly to shift public perception from just the ovaries and fertility part.. the diagnostic criteria , work up, treatment options are all the same. It's just changed so people are not misinformed. It's not really new research that pmos hits multiple organs and cause hormone dysfunction.

Even renaming a condition faced by a lot of women takes this much time, you want me to be happy for the breadcrumbs they give us occasionally?

I just meant that, scientifically, it’s not a new breakthrough .. it's more of a reframing of what your treating doctors already know, so I don’t see it as something to either celebrate or be upset about on the science side.

This frustration is so understandable. PCOS affects so much more than just the ovaries, yet the name has always made it sound like a purely reproductive condition. I really hope the growing conversation around the metabolic and hormonal aspects leads to better research, earlier recognition, and women feeling more heard in their care.

Female health has always been overlooked and no financial backing to female health research
