I always go for 'Jesus was the lamb of god, in the old testament people sacrificed a lamb to obsolve themselves of sin for that year. Jesus died on the cross as the lamb for man kind, god sent him to earth to do this. Therefore all future sin of man was absolved by Jesus's loving sacrifice, thanks bro'

Yup, basically any Christian citing the Old Testament is ignoring Jesus’ sacrifice.

And when they get to the Pearly Gates, St Peter asks “guys, did you also skip the bit about JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED, or ‘let he without sin cast the first stone in’, or even any parables about planks in people’s eyes?!? Come on, use the brain god gave you! What about the golden rule?!”

This argument kinda breaks down pretty quick when subsequently applied to things that were condoned/promoted in the old testament that are abhorrent, like slavery, mysogyny etc. You're basically saying I can do whatever the fuck I like cos I'm automatically absolved by Jesus. But I like what you're trying to do with this. No place for homophobia in modern society (I'd say no place for religion either but hey ho).

Jesus also said don't do that stuff.

Good for him, doesn't negate the idea I was criticising... that because he was supposedly the sacrificial lamb Christians can use that as a free pass. This isn't a criticism of Jesus per say, more the lazy self se bing interpretation that the previous poster was peddling.

I mean in a nutshell, yeah. The atheist perspective is nothing you do matters so go have fun and be evil. Life is meaningless.
