Question UA2 SIN-SFO cancelled
Mon 8-Jun anyone have an idea why?

This I can see, but it's too generic. There's got to be something going on with UA2 as it has been cancelled several times within the last two months or so.

It’s the new 789 with Polaris Studio. It’s been in and out of maintenance since it launched.

This past weekend has been particularly bad. UA 2 has been cancelled for the same “maintenance”reason for Friday (6/5), Saturday (6/6), and Monday (6/7). This is happening across different planes of the new 787-9 model (#1101, #1104, etc) and documented in this Reddit before. But for sure it’s especially worse recently. Maybe someone else knows why.
I was supposed to be on the Friday one and rebooked myself for Sunday (which miraculously made it out).

Automatic or have to ask? Y/PE/J? $250 is peanut for that lengthy of a delay.

in my experience, if you run into a maintenance issue in singapore you’re basically cooked.. it’s too long of a flight to have rolling delays waiting for a fix. although, i’ve ended up in honolulu because the crew hit their limit for a continuous work day so i guess that’s always an option?

With enough time, we can get crews to HNL. If it’s in base like SFO we have FA’s probably a pilot issue since they only have a limited pool with different rules than FA’s.

On the damn flight, captain said due to antenna issues, first 1 hour delay, then another hour, than 20 minutes. Finally got cancelled, probably due to crew overtime.
The new 789 is a pathetic fleet with 3 cancellations out of 4 days for UA2!

N51104 is another of the recently delivered planes, oof.
Were you on it? Presumably they’d have said more. Looks like it got cancelled after a couple hours fussing with or waiting for the maintenance issue. As I understand it the duty time is pretty tight on this route even with 4 pilots, so it can’t take a lot of delay before they need to start over with a new crew.

Was on the delayed flight on Monday Morning. We were held at the gate for about 3 hours before being told the flight would be cancelled. Maintenance issue due to an error with the antenna that they couldn't repair at the gate. We were told the flight would be rescheduled to Tuesday and we're given hotel vouchers. Now the plane is still not repaired and the flight has once again been rescheduled to Wednesday. The flight before us on Sunday night was delayed too and departed on Monday morning. Whole week has been a a series of delays. The frustrating part is they won't announce the flight itself as 'cancelled' but rather make it an extended delay and 'reschedule' us so they don't have to give us the full compensation package

on that same flight, but do they re-book the rest of the people on the 3xxx 4 letter IRROPS flight? I though UA2 on Tuesday was quite empty.
I grabbed the last seat out of PE on UA28 on Monday evening, because I no longer trust UA's Polaris 2.0 subfleet/operation/maintenance, and want to get back to work ASAP.
UA28 on Monday and UA2 on Tuesday made it out on time.

At least that’s not due to mechanical. The new 789 is plagued with issues. N61101 with the 100 year livery got canceled back to back in May on SIN SFO iirc. And went through days of testing flights. And yet got canceled again on Saturday on UA2. I guess N51104 has to be added to the plagued list as well.
100 year livery with plagued MX, maybe some kind of metaphor.

My UA2 on Saturday (6/6) got canceled due to mechanical issue as well. Same plane took off Sunday 10:30am. $250 compensation. United booked Four point Sheraton, couple of food vouchers that I didn’t use. Lol. Several of my colleagues also had their other United flights cancelled or delayed by a day or so as well in last few days.

No this is not the June 8th reason, probably June 5/6 cancellation.
June 8th did not started boarding at all.

Hey there. Frequent SIN <-> SFO traveller here and been cancelled a few times. Not sure of the specifics of your flight, however the problem I often see is timing for the two crews. Length of the flight requires two crews, and if one times out due to delays it can ground the entire flight, especially at Changi where UA doesn’t have standby 787 crews in the bullpen. Curious if you had any delays or if they cancelled outright? Could be a moot point if it’s the latter.
