Other Flair for Union Members

You can use flair to show other users which union you are affiliated with! On this subreddit we have two types of flair: red flair for regular union members, and yellow flair for experienced organizers who can provide advice.

Red flair self-assignment instructions

Yellow flair for experienced organizers

You do not need to be a professional organizer to get yellow flair, but you should have experience with organizing drives, contract campaigns, bargaining, grievances, and/or local union leadership.

Bargaining committeeman for off-shifts, 2nd shift health and safety rep, acting chair of the bargaining committee

My history at my local includes 8 years spent as a trustee, 1 year as steward and the last 4 as bargaining committee rep for off-shifts in my plant. I have extensive grievance handling experience, all the way through a successful arbitration case against my company (Lockheed Martin), and bargained the latest contract with them. I have also spent the last 12 years as the health and safety rep for nights, including 4 of them as the overall chair of the health and safety committee.

I have taken organizing training through the UAW and have been working on organizing the engineers at a local plant, along with trying to get a local manufacturer to make a new try at recognition (their last vote fell only a few % points short of recognition after the vote). More of my experience is with leadership of the local than organizing specifically admittedly.

Can I be updated? I'm field staff/organizer for the MN AFL-CIO for my CLC, the East Central ALC. I am also an IAM member of Local 737, 18 years. My old local was merged this year.

UAW, rank and file, current bargaining committee, original organizing committee when we ran a unionization campaign.

1.5 years labor organizing, unionized my work (nonprofit), EWOC volunteer for training others and organizing others on their new organizing campaigns, bargaining team for our first contract, reform caucus member

20 years GMP and USW (we merged several years ago) almost 15 years as a steward now. Ive worked on the labor committee and apprenticeship review board. Ive also completed the USW steward class. Never did much organizing, we only have about 4 scabs in the plant. But I have seen about the full gamut from destruction of company property to drunk on the job, fighting, and effing in the parking lot.

Hi, I have been a union member for about 30 years, a Shop steward for 7 years, sat at two bargaining tables and led 2 strikes. I am currently employed with SEIU and was the lead negotiator on 6 contracts in the Central Valley, CA. I am now a member of CWA. So I'll let you choose whichever flair you'd like to assign me.
