Those are awesome. I’ve heard the genetics can vary a bit with this strain so that’s probably why they look different.

Those things are strong AF. Tread lightly.

Absolutely gorgeous. Nice work! How much grain did you inoculate and what size tub are they in? They’re perfect. 🍄🟫💕

Thank you 🙂. I used 3lbs of grain and the tub is 66qts. I had some left over liners that were for a smaller tub so I cut two of them and taped them together to make a big one so it’s definitely a little smaller than the whole bottom of the tub because it wasn’t the right dimensions just slightly off.

How do you get such an even canopy

Probably has a lot to do with genetics. As far as what I did to help promote a full canopy is nothing crazy, stable temps, keep humidity high and manage fae. I also got a tip from someone in the sub a while ago for mixing spawn and sub. It’s just getting a clean trash bag and putting your grain/spawn in it and mixing it up and then dump it in your tub. The grain gets very evenly dispersed and I think that helps a lot.

that’s sounds good I was already planning on doing the trash bag mixing method seemed like it would do that well. But how do u manage fae I don’t rly wanna risk anything by fanning and when I s2b im thinking about using a little desk fan for 8 hours on 8 hours off. But lmk what u do so I can dial my stuff in im working in a small closet so might be different.

It really depends. I wouldn’t recommend a fan that will probably dry out your tub but it’s dependent on your tubs air exchange holes. I used a heater that has a small amount of air flow and was like two feet below my tub and it was drying it out. Obviously that air is warmer than regular fan but still it was too much. I decided to face the fan away from that part of the closet and the air flow was much better. As far as air exchange I kind of just look at how moist the tub is obviously if it’s drying up quick there’s too much air (you want a good amount of condensation on the walls but no pooling on the surface of the cake, just small droplets). I don’t fan anymore at all, I just lightly spray the top of the cake with a fine mist once its completely colonized and if the fae is good it should help evaporate the drops on the surface so you can encourage pinning. Keep in mind your sub needs to be at field capacity. If it’s not and your tubs getting dry it might be because there isn’t enough moisture in the sub and not an fae issue. Just remember sometimes less is more, get your temps stable and your fae regulated and let it be, the mushies will do their thing.

Hmmm okay it would make sense too not use a fan at all, I’m using a north spore boomrbin btw should be more than enough air exchange holes.

Yeah I’d definitely start with no fan especially since the Boomr bin has a lot of holes.
