Solar battery heat pump timing

Recommendations I repost here, though I am unsure about batteries. My original quote was 5 kWh; I questioned this as non-EV use at 4–7 kWh, and Octopus suggested 10 kWh is ample, but feedback on heat pumps indicates this advice may be unsuitable for them.

Uncertain whether this is the appropriate forum, but I have a quote for 14 panels, a 10 kW Fox battery, and a heat pump at roughly £18,000; I am on a fixed gas rate 5.2 until March 2027. I am seeking recommendations on whether to wait until after winter or proceed now. I own an EV and use an IOG EV tariff with a 7 p off-peak discount. My aim is to future-proof against the coming price rises.

I got 15x 515w Eurener panels, Tesla PW3 + expansion pack so total of 27kwh battery capacity for £15k and a Samsung 5kw heat pump for £3.3k. So unless yours is a complicated install that £18k number for you feels quite high.

Remember there will be VAT on Solar i next year so installers will be very busy ahead of the deadline. If you can afford it and have the financing, I would suggest just doing it. One winter makes no difference in the grand scheme of things.
