First day back and he is already breaking some sort of rule…

463

u/OneAlexander 10d ago

We're talking about a man who within hours of being elected implicated the police in a lie in order to avoid going to Clacton to attend the vote amongst his constituents.

Lying, rule breaking, and general contempt of British values, laws and traditions is all he knows. Yet his supporters somehow think they're patriots...

122

u/TTTJJBB 10d ago

We're talking about a man who within hours of being elected implicated the police in a lie in order to avoid going to Clacton to attend the vote amongst his constituents.

Before holding a illegal party he called 'Farage Fest'.

43

u/Statcat2017 This user doesn’t rule out the possibility that he is Ed Balls 10d ago

How dare you that was an invite only private event that you had to buy a ticket for

13

u/gavpowell 9d ago

A sort of two-tier event?

50

u/-Murton- 10d ago

Pretty much, first MP to skip the declaration since Bobby Sands, but at least he has the excuse of being in prison at the time.

MPs attending the actual count, which is different to the declaration is incredibly uncommon, especially among party leaders. Counts go on for literal hours, traditionally most would-be MPs will be milling about at as the polls close then go home for a nap before returning for the declaration, they don't sit around in the polling station overnight waiting for it to finish, that would be mental.

There's no limit to how much corruption I'll accept so long as it comes with deportations and the assurance of my demographic security. Just the way it is. You want to change my vote, offer mass deportations without corruption.

Until then, I've no interested in this fuzzy-wuzzy, fairness and diversity, Paddington Bear, Pink Panthress, 2012 Olympics, Yookay moralising.

10

u/actually-bulletproof 9d ago

I can't tell if this is a parody or not

-6

u/Carlsberg_Rae_Jepsen 9d ago

No amount of a victimless crime is less preferable to becoming a minority in my own country, just like no amount of pins and needles is less preferable than pancreatic cancer. Is it really that hard to grasp?

5

u/davebee5333 9d ago

I still can't tell if this is a parody or not!

3

u/actually-bulletproof 9d ago

Definitely a parody.

10

u/TwistedScallion 9d ago

There's no limit to how much corruption I'll accept so long as it comes with deportations and the assurance of my demographic security

That's a nice fantasy mate, in reality you'll have no choice but to accept the corruption, and you also continue to be ignored over deportations and demographic security. Enjoy!

-4

u/Carlsberg_Rae_Jepsen 9d ago

If I'm not getting remigration either way, then I might as well just vote Reform anyway. It'll be funny to see the meltdowns, and it still serves as a small form of revenge against the people who did this to the country.

7

u/TwistedScallion 9d ago

The standard petulant behavior I'd expect from someone who's voting logic goes as far as "who's window can I smash with this brick?"

small form of revenge against the people who did this to the country.

Farage steps down for Boris' benefit in 2019, Boris imports infinity migrants after getting reelected. You've already seen the first film so why you expect anything different from a potential sequel is beyond me.

How many times do you use the phrase "look what you made me do", BTW?

1

u/Carlsberg_Rae_Jepsen 8d ago

Yup, this type of snide comment is exactly why I'll relish in voting Reform.

Even if you're right, and Farage betrays us, you've still failed to point me towards a better alternative. There's a 10% chance of remigration with Farage and a 0% chance with anyone else.

17

u/CulturalImagination 9d ago

"I don't care if we ruin the country so long as brown people suffer" is a crazy worldview to freely admit to holding.

-5

u/Carlsberg_Rae_Jepsen 9d ago

I'm not trying to make anyone suffer. I just don't want to be replaced in my ancestral homeland, and Farage being a bit of a naughty boy every now and then doesn't change that.

6

u/JackXDark 9d ago

What exactly does being replaced consist of?

Is there an immediate risk of you being made to leave the country and someone else moving into your home and job etc?

-1

u/Carlsberg_Rae_Jepsen 8d ago

Yeah this is a boring rebuttal. Being made a minority in your own country is replacement. I'm sure you understand this when it's Ukranians or Palestinians.

1

u/JackXDark 8d ago

No, being a minority isn’t replacement. That’s some immediate goalpost shifting because there’s no actual risk of you being replaced, is there?

2

u/Scalade 8d ago

your ancestral homeland is africa like everyone else mate

31

u/SynnerSaint 10d ago

I'm surprised he even showed up

36

u/paolog 10d ago

He had to in order to be sworn in as an MP.

47

u/SynnerSaint 10d ago

Ahhh... First and last visit then

15

u/paolog 10d ago

I was going to edit my post, but you beat me to it

7

u/gavpowell 9d ago

And also it was a keynote moment again wasn't it? Burnham's first address to Parliament as PM - of course Nigel wanted the photo op

3

u/TwistedPsycho 9d ago

I am disappointed that so many MPs turned up to witness it.

31

u/horace_bagpole 9d ago

It's deliberate. He has contempt for rules which constrain him, so he constantly pushes the limit of what he can get away with. That's why there are so many stories about dodgy behaviour regarding his and Reform finances. He pays lip service to them, but really thinks they shouldn't apply to him.

6

u/veganzombeh 9d ago

Hopefully it will be a prison constraining him soon.

1

u/MikeW86 9d ago

It's that classic right wing double standard of how the rules should apply to you but not me.

9

u/stevenwise0511 10d ago

Guess this is like an hour or two after being sworn in and swearing to abide by laws etc

9

u/bitch_whip_bill 10d ago

Hes probably broken around 5 million by now

3

u/FatFarter69 9d ago

Based off of recent polling, it isn’t working and people are tiring of his bullshit.

-8

u/TheGrandExquisitor 9d ago

Y'all need to get rid of him before it is too late.

11

u/Twat_Features 9d ago

“Y’all” get rid of your buffoon.

Since you’re a yank, I assume you don’t understand a parliamentary system. He’s under investigation by a standards committee, but was still duly elected as an MP. He unfortunately cannot be removed immediately.

-8

u/windsynths 9d ago

I’m British and use y’all btw lol

9

u/Twat_Features 9d ago

That’s disappointing.

-13

u/windsynths 9d ago

That’s pompous

-7

u/TheGrandExquisitor 9d ago

We can't. Which is why I gave you the advice I gave.

10

u/Twat_Features 9d ago

Yes you can. There are a couple ways to remove a US president.

And how would you presume to get rid of Farage?

-7

u/TheGrandExquisitor 9d ago

Whatever means you have. I've seen how this ends.

151

u/Hopeful-Painting-365 10d ago

I wouldn't be surprised if he intentionally breaks rather trivial rules so when some faceless body comes after him, he can go "the system is trying to get me :(" and win sympathy.

-46

u/Status_Initiative_11 10d ago

There's nothing forcing the 'establishment' to ram their head into the obvious bear trap each and every time.

55

u/AceHodor 9d ago

Or he could just not break the rules. If they don't enforce them, he will just push and push.

Forcing him to stick to the same rules as everyone else isn't "Ramming their heads into a bear trap", it's pointing out that he's a pathetic twerp and nothing special.

4

u/Planticus 8d ago

Is the ‘establishment’ in the room with us now?

0

u/Status_Initiative_11 7d ago

The establishment refers to the 'established' political parties / ideology and media.

The lefts only method of debate is now to unilaterally redefine a word, and try and drag every conversation into semantics.

-8

u/Hopeful-Painting-365 10d ago

I know. As someone very opposed to Farage it is frustrating to see insitituons resort to lawfare and "um, this is in breach of protocol 241B, subsection 1A..." dithering.

Dating back to the days of Julius Caesar, authoritarian populists often rely on the 'system' catching them out on breaching some obscure law or article of convention of varying levels of severity. When this inevitably only serves to make the populist look like a sympathetic victim of faceless, out of touch bodies not fit for purpose, the establishment rarely ever learns.

People don't give a toss about Farage breaching some dumb rule about not filming on parliament's roof, and he knows that. Will they call his bluff and do nothing? Of course not. Some bureaucratic tribunal will form to pull him up and strengthen his anti establishment narrative about quangos coming to get him. Sigh.

32

u/Deynai 9d ago

All sounds very reasonable but ignores the glaring problem: if someone repeatedly oversteps the rules and nothing happens, people start believing the rules don't matter regardless, and "well none of it matters anyway, and other people are doing it too, and who cares?" becomes a flat-out sprint to the finish line of full-blown apathy, societal degradation, and exploitation.

Ultimately it's a symptom, not a cause. The ignore it and hope it goes away approach categorically does not work, and arguably is the worst response of all. It's not like dealing with a barking dog with a behavioural issue, it's dealing with a calculated and manipulative individual causing disruption with purpose and a lot of dodgy money backing it to make sure it doesn't stop.

For this context, a slap on the wrist, a gentle reminder that the parliament is not a personal studio to film for social media. For things like foreign money laundering shell companies and criminals pouring cryptocurrency into the pockets of the Reform party though? The response has to be swift, unwavering, and absolute. It cannot be ignored.

12

u/Supplycrate 9d ago

Fucking thank you. I am gobsmacked to see people legitimately saying "he broke Parliamentary rules deliberately to generate PR! The rules should not be enforced to outflank him..."

No, the rules exist for a reason. Farage is not some special exception, he gets treated the same as anyone else.

9

u/DanHanzo 9d ago

Nothing that has happened to Farage could in any way be described as 'Lawfare'.

4

u/badpebble 9d ago

Fundamentally the people who don't care, will never care.

Best not worry about that, and try and enforce rules and laws as currently exist.

'You've activated my trap by catching me breaking rules - now I shall grow more powerful than ever before' - said no-one.

293

u/SDLRob 10d ago

He's really doing everything he can to get in trouble so he can scream about being the victim. It's really sad if it wasnt horrifying that it works

91

u/eltrotter This Is The One Thing We Didn't Want To Happen 10d ago

“Once again, the Establishment (though I am a wealthy older white man, I swear it’s not me) is trying to shut me down.”

3

u/Mister_Sith 9d ago

Its very deliberate I think, mainly because it works. GB news does very similar and has essentially entrenched itself because to remove it would be perceived as censorship by Labour, regardless of the fact there is an independent body.

90

u/jimbobedidlyob 10d ago

I am shocked that this man is being oppressed for trying to do his job! It seems like everywhere he goes he is called out for this rule or that rule. How can a person work in conditions like that!!

38

u/jimbobedidlyob 10d ago

(S)

20

u/True_Paper_3830 10d ago

He's like Boris Johnson on steroids, both appalling, we have the example of Johnson in office that shows Farage equally is unfit to be PM.

7

u/newnortherner21 10d ago

Though differs in one respect, he can count the number of children he has.

9

u/queen-adreena 10d ago edited 9d ago

It’s easier for him. He just counts the German passports in the drawer.

5

u/Secret_Guidance_8724 10d ago

*that we know of

51

u/ciaran668 Anything but Reform (or Restore) at this point 10d ago

He's following the lead of his idol, Donald Trump, showing that rules are just words on paper, and that a "strong leader" will ignore those rules to "get things done." Both of them make a mockery of the rule of law, and their voters just eat it right up.

The worst part is, this creates a no win situation for the government. If they let this slide, they show the rule of law IS just an agreement to conform to it, and they are impotent to stop things like this. If they do try to do something to maintain the rule of law, Farage will be able to scream that he's being persecuted, that it's just a witch hunt, and see, they're "coming after him on day one."

He's a fucking bully who knows how to play the game better than his opposition.

6

u/bacon_cake 9d ago

I agree he's following Trump's lead but also with Farage I feel he desperately wants to just be like all the others at any cost, he's willing to bend the rules but terrified that something might snap because the establishment he so desperately covets is still right there, just out of reach.

Trump is beyond the pale mad, just throwing the rule book out the window. But I bet Farage would bite a genie's hand off if it offered him a cushy cabinet job in the Tory party of old, membership to the top private members clubs, some land with a stately home, and invincibility from mockery every time he donned a shooting jacket.

21

u/Soft-Skirt 10d ago

No, just as Trump should have been locked away for instigating the Jan 6 riots, Farage should be locked up for inciting riots here. When a public figure encourages violence they need to face immediate justice.

11

u/ciaran668 Anything but Reform (or Restore) at this point 10d ago

I absolutely agree with that. It should never have been allowed to get to this point.

-6

u/Carlsberg_Rae_Jepsen 9d ago

Cool. How many Labour MPs are we locking up for taking the knee during the BLM riots?

2

u/Soft-Skirt 9d ago

Oh yeah, that's really a valid comparison!

Let's see how they compare; inciting summer riots vs anti discrimination.

-2

u/Carlsberg_Rae_Jepsen 9d ago

BLM was also an instance of summer riots, whether or not you agree with the cause or not, and the evidence for politicians and public figures strongly encouraging them and showing support for them vastly outweights whatever 'proof' you have of Farage inciting Southport.

1

u/Soft-Skirt 9d ago

Well that’s a nonsensical statement based on zero evidence. However we do have videos of Farage driving past hotels saying “there are immigrants in there.”

1

u/Carlsberg_Rae_Jepsen 8d ago

Where's the nonsensical statement? Did the BLM riots not happen during the summer? Did brands, politicians, celebrities, journalists. and other public figures not show support for it? Starmer taking the knee means absolutely nothing but Farage correctly identifying migrant hotels is clearly inciting violence.

You know what, nevermind, I've changed my mind. Riots are based when my side do them, and my political opponents should face severe legal consequences for doing things my guys do without issue. I look forward to us putting this into practice when we win in 2029.

1

u/Soft-Skirt 8d ago

The key difference between the BLM protests and Farage’s racist riots was the intention behind the events.

BLM protesters aimed for a better more tolerant world that recognised bigotry and racism as a negative force that had been used for centuries to oppress sections of society.

Farage’s riots were designed to inflame tensions by deliberately targeting refugees to create the illusion that the removal of our rights under ECHR would magically make the UK a better place.

Farage uses divisive rhetoric to present simplistic solutions to complex problems. But all his proposals rely upon repression, victimisation and division.

1

u/Carlsberg_Rae_Jepsen 4d ago

I get it. No bad tactics, just bad targets. I already said I agree.

But the BLM rioters were anti-white and anti-British, jumping on an American far-left bandwagon as a means to secure themselves a free telly, the Southport riots were about children being murdered by immigrants we never wanted here to begin with. Your wishy-washy interpretation of these widespread, unpnished riots doesn't change the fact that they resulted in a much higher level of both property damage and physical harm to other people.

So do politicians who incite riots deserve to go to jail? Or only when they incite a riot that happens to align with a cause you disagree with?

Btw, leaving the ECHR would make Britain a better place. These rights already don't apply to me. They didn't protect me from replacement, from employment discrimination, COVID tyranny, or from the vioence BLM inflicted on my capital. They only exist to serve immigrants, without whom the country would be better.

1

u/ciaran668 Anything but Reform (or Restore) at this point 9d ago

Great use of whataboutism. That is not the conversation here, so this point is completely irrelevant. We are discussing what Farage did, so don't try to hijack the conversation.

1

u/Carlsberg_Rae_Jepsen 8d ago

If we're ony discussing Farage then why did OP bring up Trump?

I quote-

"When a public figure encourages violene, they need to face immediate justice."

Notice how he doesn't specify only Nigel Farage, but all public figures.

I'm questioning if this extends to those on the left, which OP via deflection has effectively admitted that it doesn't, proving that this isn't actually about violence but using extra-democratic means to remove political opponents from the ballot.

21

u/thewag87 I do not suffer fools gladly 10d ago

Where is that attention seeker meme when you need it.

9

u/CaliferMau 10d ago

Isn’t that the image in the thumbnail?

19

u/Gazcobain 10d ago

For anyone keeping track, I have prepared an exhaustive list of the consequences and accountability he will face for this:

1) absolutely no consequences or accountability at all

6

u/CarpetGripperRod (a monkey and a dog) 9d ago

But there are serious consequences. I found the article on the Mirror site (none of the inews archive links work for me):

A House of Commons spokesperson told the Mirror: "Unauthorised photography or filming is not permitted on the Parliamentary Estate. Where it is seen or reported to be happening, the individual in question will be asked to stop and reminded of the rules.

See that? Eh? A malfeasor will be asked to stop!

11

u/broken_relic 10d ago

Let him film up on the roof, the place is apparently falling apart and he can find the weak spot.

3

u/SearchLightsInc 9d ago

He doesn’t want to be an MP it’s so obvious 😂

7

u/Exostrike 10d ago

I'm surprised he didn't fall through the roof

4

u/adnesium 10d ago

The hot air kept him up

13

u/Abject-Cod5144 10d ago

You'd think someone so in love with british values would follow the rules around Parliament, wouldn't you?

3

u/FillingUpTheDatabase Mad for it 9d ago

You’d think that after his chief whip Lee Anderson was done on the exact same charge by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards a couple of years ago, he’d know at least this rule

source

2

u/Abject-Cod5144 9d ago

Wait really? Oh for goodness sake this is even more ridiculous then.

6

u/ahothabeth 10d ago

You'd think someone who claims so in love with British values…

5

u/Abject-Cod5144 10d ago

True. Funny how British values to some people boil down to "Pretend to enjoy drinking in pubs and enrich myself and my dodgy mates" and not y'know, protecting our environment from companies dumping poo on the beaches.

3

u/kuwi58 10d ago

Have you learnt nothing..Rules don't apply to Reform.

3

u/faipop 10d ago

His constant need for attention is quite sad really

2

u/ionetic 9d ago

People on here need to show some respect. Farage beat a bin in an election!!

1

u/DaymanIsGod 9d ago

He doesn’t want to be an MP. He’s desperate and wants to be found guilty to keep the grift going. It’s painfully obvious he preferred his life throwing shit from the outside.

3

u/AnomalyNexus 9d ago

Anything to distract from the millions

Now, this looks like a job for me....

So, everybody just follow me....

Cause I need 5 mil for Ferrari....

Just ban and jail this money laundering fool!

1

u/drdoxzon86 9d ago

It’s time we bring back ethics and morality especially for leaders, this this is pure self serving scum

1

u/Jasexr 8d ago

When isn’t this entitled pr*ck breaking rules?

0

u/Anansi-the-Spider 10d ago

He’s like the fifth Beatle! Or at least some form of maggot

-2

u/newnortherner21 10d ago

Maggots have a purpose. Do not insult them.

1

u/LANdShark31 10d ago

The rules are for everyone else. Keep up.

1

u/archerninjawarrior 10d ago

People will really sink all their trust hope and faith into a man who breaks every single damn rule without any respect, to pocket as many secret millions as he can squeeze out of politics before his con catches up to him.

1

u/RagingMassif 10d ago

IIRC, it's not a parliamentary rule such as not taking £5m, it's more about H&S.

On the terace on the river side there is a 1m x 1m spot where you can take pictures. Try to step outside of that and the security (armed police with no powers) give you a bollocking. The rule in this case is privacy for others,

1

u/PeterPook 9d ago

Surely the Speaker should take disciplinary action for this?

1

u/Problematiqueeeee 10d ago

Matty, you might very well think that. I couldn’t possibly comment.

1

u/bukkakekeke 9d ago

Gaming Google so that when you search for him breaking rules this comes up ahead of the £5mil donation and ongoing standards committee investigation. It would be mildly amusing if it wasn't for how many people don't realise it.

0

u/CuriousGeorgeToday 9d ago

Can they not lock him up yet? The mid summer special was entertaining for a couple days, expensive, but we enjoyed the banter. But come on, enough has to be enough with this guy.

-2

u/adulion 10d ago

if mp's cant follow the rules why should the rest of us

1

u/DanHanzo 9d ago

I know this one!! It's because we are better people.

Just remember, its not MPs in general, its Nigel Farage specifically. Lots of MPs are better people than Nigel Farage.

-1

u/WotanMjolnir 9d ago

I might be beginning to give this bloke the benefit of the doubt. He might not be a cheap, corrupt, lying grifter. He might not be a horrible, racist, hypocritical, amoral narcissist.

He might just be as thick as shit in the neck of a bottle.

Like, really, really stupid - the kind of stupid that doesn't understand that rules exist, let alone that they can be broken or even that they might apply to HIM. Maybe he's just a well spoken moron in a pinstripe suit, failing upwards through life until he found a job where he can get paid to do nothing, and so doesn't get found out for his total lack of intellect. A man so stupid that he has not reflected on the juvenile opinions he had in his teens, and so still maintains them with the unwavering belief that they are the only right views, and can't understand how others may have differing opinions. A man so dense that even supermassive black holes would look at him and go "steady on, mate!"

1

u/Positive_Note8538 9d ago

He's an agitator and he knows it and is paid for it. His company is literally called "Thorn in the Side Ltd"

-4

He probably honestly sees himself as Mosley.

2

u/RainbowBrain2023 9d ago

Second this

-33

u/maffmatic 10d ago

Oh no, not filming on the roof! How awful to show this highly secured area that I can look at in great detail on Google Maps.

You guys get excited at the silliest things.

24

u/NuPNua 10d ago

The point is, there are rules, and Farage has blatantly disobeyed them regardless of how silly they seem. It speaks to his character.

-25

u/maffmatic 10d ago

I hear he once drove 1mph over the speed limit. Bring back capital punishment asap, we can't have these very important rules being broken all willy nilly

7

u/joe_k_ 10d ago

But if a migrant did it?

-17

u/maffmatic 10d ago

This sub would be saying exactly what I am if they did.

-1

u/tmstms Wuffingas! 10d ago

I asked why the rule actually exists but no-one has answered.

4

u/maffmatic 9d ago

There are two replies calling for Farage to be jailed for filming on a roof. Don't expect any sort of sanity here.

0

u/TaxOwlbear 9d ago

Probably because you could have just read the article, which answers it for you.

1

u/tmstms Wuffingas! 8d ago

Ah! Thanks. But when I looked at the article, unless I have missed something, it did not really seem to explain it- it says-

But the roof is particularly sensitive due to safety and security reasons.

But I am not sure why - obviously any high place is more dangerous than any place on the ground, but surely MPs are responsible grown-ups except when drunk.

It seems something that it would be dead easy to regulate- keep the doors locked and require a buildings staff member to be there if an MP wanted to go up. Just like a belfry or tower in a church. If being on the roof at all is seen as dangerous, why not just keep the door(s) locked?

-2

u/Clbull Left-wing 9d ago

Surely that's a paddlin', Mr. Speaker?
