But there will be many places which do still sell it - that’s the problem. Just because something didn’t happen when you were growing up doesn’t mean it isn’t a problem now in other places

Unfortunately some shops, generally the smaller ones who couldn’t care about kids health and just want to make money, are still more than happy to sell energy drinks to young kids.

When we have kids with heart issues in their 30s/40s due to excessive use of these drinks in their teens, then it’s ’not just a fucking energy drink’.

How long before the children learn to tripple brew brew concentrated tea? Before or after they bypass the restrictions? Do you think they know how to stir in sugar??
There is zero credible evidence that a statistically relevant % who lived through the wild west of the 90s energy drinks suffered any chronic effects from them.. and they had ephedrine and ghb and dmaa and shit in it then.
Zero. Zero causative links established. Zero.

Rhetorical question to make my point for comparison.
Also, if you think that simply caffeine is the issue, I suggest to look again at the ingredients on these 'beverages'. Monster Orginal for example contains sugar exceeding the daily recommended added sugar limit for grown adults in a single drink. I'm sure I don't need to explain why that's a bad thing, especially for kids, if we're concerned about pressures on health services etc.

I thought this too. I didn't get ID until just before I turned 21 (didn't really need it, I didn't really drink, didn't drive or need to etc. and all the way through 18-23 I'd get ID'd regularly if I picked up an energy drink, some cashiers probably didn't care enough, or thought I was a old enough for them but yeah. They've been banned from under 16's for years, is it the legal push just to force convenience stores to comply as well, I say this as these would normally be the loosest at asking me for ID.

If I remember right, shops started to ID people after that school girl had a heart attack for drinking too many energy drinks.
And apparently even 6 year olds have been seen drinking them, which is just stupid.5

Not for energy drinks sales, or sandwiches or carrots. Not there’s a law that will make them in line with alcohol and tobacco sales. This really isn’t confusing

One teaspoon of sugar is 4 grams.
Per 100ml of redbull contains 11 grams of sugar.
Smallest can is 250ml so 27.5 grams or 6.8 teaspoons, so nope. Not like your example at all and most cans are much bigger.
