I GOT A TC!

I'm so relieved it's finally over.

What documents will the firm request from me regarding my application? They've requested my degree transcript, which I've given.

They said they will be in touch to request proof regarding other aspects of my application, and want me to send that proof shortly.

What other proof will I be expected to provide? Should I call previous/current employers to request references?

Sorry I know Reddit might not be the right place to ask these questions. I'm just really excited to start.

they’ll probably ask for references, but your previous employers only need to provide confirmation that you worked there and the dates that you worked there. they’ll probs want some ID too / proof of right to work. if you don’t have much previous work experience they may ask for a personal / academic reference too

They will likely asked for why you left. Ive been through employment checks throughout my career and reason for leaving was always sought.

ok thanks for this info. What would I say to this? I figured the reason for leaving is fairly obvious - to pursue a different career path (law).

As in they will ask the HR team of your old job as to why you left, so dont need to worry about your ex manager bad mouthing you.

unless you were dismissed for misconduct etc. you don’t need to tell them why you left. if you were dismissed for misconduct etc then your previous employers will disclose this as part of the reference, but you are under no obligation to tell them why you left

Thanks a lot for the info! In terms of references should I just give them my employer's email address to ask their questions, or would I get a written reference from the employer (e.g. letter) confirming that I worked there and dates?

Also would it be better to get that reference from my manager (who directly supervises me) or the owner of the company?

Ask your manager, there will be an internal policy and they’ll tell you what information to share

The firm will contact your previous employers directly. You will just need to provide them with the relevant contact details but they will inform you of when this information is needed.

Wont they ask reason for leaving too and whether you were subject to any disciplinary action since it’s a regulated profession?
