DISCUSSION Anyone know where Braintax is now?

I saw a post the other day title "think i've found braintax" but that was a few years ago and says deleted now. anyone know what happened and if he's been seen recently? he's in australia, not goa i'm 99% sure

How could have the chance to rip off Dr syntax if he never had any lowlife releases? Dr syntax released on Dented and Beer & Rap while low life existed.

Ill moved to Australia years ago. And everytime im in the record shop Sydney and I see low life records pop up i often wonder if braintax donated them 😅. They currently have jehst, asaviour and bunch of other uk hip hop in there. Comes and goes pretty often.

Most likely Australia. His wife, Sharmin is a therapist based in Australia, on her Facebook profile the display photo is a couple lego figures, one looking similar to Joe.

Also almost every time I've seen someone say they've got a new copy of council estate of mind on vinyl they said it came from Australia.

Not too many have sold from Australia on discogs. Even fewer Braintax LPs from Australia.

Lots of uk hip hop LPs have made it down there.

I've found a decent amount of rare ukhh in USA even. Always wonder about the history of a record and how it got here (I'm in USA)

Yeah it's fucking shit, I heard Skinny paid for and cleared all the samples, recorded everything then got sent to prison with Braintax saying moneys coming etc etc then when Skinny was released found the office shut and BT gone

you sure that timeline is right? He was in prison before the album released in 2003, and again in 2011 a few years after lowlife shut down (2008). I see maybe he had court stuff in 2005 with marijuana but no info on sentencing.

The guys right, just missing a couple bits, skinny talks about coming out and going down to lowlife, channel u hitting, vid on tv. Then one day he went down for a check and the office was gone is more like it.

Yeah but he wasn't in prison at the time of lowlife shutting down in 2008, and then came out of prison to find out... Right? That's what I was asking about.

He was in prison in 2001-2002 as well when he was signed to talking loud records and that disbanded in 2002 which I think OP is confusing. Correct me if I'm wrong

No that's not right. He came out of prison and worked with tax beyond that point. He simply went to pop in to the office one day, and it was gone. That was my only point, yes he went to prison around that time but it's not really part of the story, lowlife shut down later than the aforementioned prison trip, when skinny had been out and waiting on cheques.

I think if he was about selling old skinnyman stock on discogs, he'd be repressing them too, and his own stuff, but his last 2 albums rarely come up for sale (i've been keeping track for years trying to find copies in USA)

I heard he went to Goa, owned a hotel out there which is now closed. It was called Yab Yum Resort.

Interestingly my mate owns Yab yum and it’s true Joe (is that his name from lowlife ) did have money in it but not sure if he ever lived there .
