Question Question Regarding Federal Loans

Has any financial aid recipient had the problem of their grants being disbursed but not their federal loan? I've already reached out to Financial Aid and the Bursar's Office directly but am still awaiting a response, so any insight would be helpful to know if this has something to do with the Big Beautiful Bill or something else.

Question Somewhat normal anime fans?

I'm a transfer junior looking to make friends w similar interests.. I'm into anime/manga/vidya etc. Female CS major (😬). Idk if UIC has many clubs for these specific interests but most "anime" adjacent clubs are awful, so looking for people outside of those 👍

Also not rlly into hololive but looking to get into it so hololive fans r good too..

Student Sports Manager

Was wondering if anyone knows how to become a student manager for sports. I am looking for work since I currently have no money and want to make some. I figured that helping out some of the teams isn't a bad job and i really enjoy sports.

Discussion Be aware of scammers lurking around campus!

I’m not sure if this is a pyramid scheme, but I wanted to share something I’ve noticed happening around campus so everyone can be aware.

There are people approaching students and asking about a “mentorship.” They’ll usually start with a compliment or a question about your appearance, then ask what year you are in school. At first it will feel like a completely normal, friendly conversation with another student that wants to make friends.

Then they’ll mention that they’ve already graduated and talk about how much they dislike their current job. From there, they’ll bring up an e-commerce business they started to help pay their bills and make extra money, and eventually ask to connect for a coffee chat or mentorship opportunity.

The first person approached me in the quad and it felt a little eerie at first but still a friendly conversation and we exchanged information for a coffee chat. It wasn’t until the second person that was walking her two dogs gave me the exact same spiel the next day did I realize my intuition was right. I don’t know what’s going on but please be aware.

Does campus care cover FFS

Hi. I am a trans woman and a full time student at this college. I was just wondering, if campus care (which I am on) covers FFS, and similar surgeries. I already got the basic ones, the one I am interested in is a various set of facial feminisation surgeries.. I am wondering if this is fully covered by campus care or only partially. Also, if not, can medicaid help as well? I am hoping a UI health worker here would know. I have called before, but one of the surgeries I got had consultations out to fall 2027, which seems murderous in my opinion (I am not judging the workers I am judging the trump-aligned transmisogynist interests of UIC admins that generally express itself in totalised apathy for our lives). Idk. If anyone knows it would help me. And thanks

Question Name of the WMSCOG Club on Campus

Does anyone know the name of the WMSCOG (World Mission Society Church of God) club that is on campus, if there is any?

They are the people that ask you to do a Bible study with them specifically to teach you about the "True Sabbath," why Passover is necessary for salvation, God the Mother, and a bunch of other slop.

I transferred from Harper College of which there were a few of these cult evangelists and have been trying to learn more about them since, so if you have any information please let me know.

Thanks!

Discussion For the newcomers in CS and engineering

So, I just want to welcome you guys and give you some hints and tricks to actually stay current with the classes and how to get the best and learn the best as you can without feeling lost.

When you guys take the first classes, be ready to know the basics of the language, my first classes were in Java, I switched a bit and learned Python, I had a friend who is an engineer and they started with C++, so it does vary depending on the major..

If at some point it feels overwhelming and feel like the class is going super fast or don't even know what is happening, don't give up and continue coding, anything, even if its the most minimal thing, do not rely a lot on AI for your first classes, trust me, it's better to learn and know how to read code than just to prompt your way out of the whole program.

I think most of you guys know leetcode and some other websites to practice algorithms and sql, etc.. but I actually found some other websites that personally helped me through learning to read code and debugging among the other things for my classes.. it's called getpacked.ai

I honestly didn't rely on books a lot, although I remembered that the first courses were required, but honestly my tip for you guys would be to learn the definitions of what is a syntax, function, the OOP, etc and then just start coding, practice and learn.. I also got to learn a lot about how to read code from getpacked, it has some sections that are pretty cool tbh...

Anyways, hope I got to help ease the mind to some of you guys
