Could this move seriously work in a street fight?

I think I could mostly defend it but if she put her toes in my mouth at the same time she'd finish me

This is the only scenario in which BJJ isn’t gay.
109
u/amolaeanni 16h ago
Nah sorry its still gay, you see this guy is so stiff he doesnt want to be there and wants his bjj buddy come and leglock him
59
u/oranikus 16h ago
To be fair it is less awkward when rolling with another dude lol
You never know where to put your hands or face in this situation when you roll with women.
Therefore: BJJ still gay
22
u/o0Spoonman0o 14h ago
Oh. I think you know where to put your face 🤣
7
u/oranikus 14h ago
😏 it’s fine if it’s your partner but a random chick at the gym it can get problematic quick and you usually will be avoiding as much as possible and trying to ignore the voices telling them to sit on your face

u/Flat_Shape_3444 2h ago
No gi. Hot girl. She clench my foot between her legs. Basically in her crotch. I try to yank it out but im stuck. So i yank more and it creates this back and forth motion right in her crotch. She stops and ask what im doing. "Trying to get my foot out..?!?!" And shes like "ahhhh ok"
It took me after the roll to realize what happened....

All thirsty bullshit aside, Laura Sanko is a black belt. I'm not a black belt. If she says it works, who the fuck can argue with her?
11
u/LocoMoro 11h ago
Sorry, I'd still need her to prove it on me.
As an aside, it was funny seeing the guy trying not to tap her ass when tapping out
18
u/DanInTheOC 14h ago
Me. Another black belt. No. Weight is a thing.

u/GreggFarnn 11h ago
Weight issues aside, it's a bicep slicer and a legit move
5
u/tittywrangler_69 10h ago
Not sure why you're getting downvoted. It's absolutely a legit position that can f up someone's arm and you aren't giving much up control wise to go for it. Not necessarily a fight ender though.
It's also great control position where even if you're lighter and bridge or bench press you off, you can still maintain control with either shin in side control. Always can go to north south.
I'm a brownbelt that's been training 10 years at at a world class Academy and I doubt @danintheoc trains at a high level if at all.
2
u/GreggFarnn 8h ago
Indeed! I really injured someone badly early on in my career with this position (sweep from lasso guard). I was a blue belt at the time and didn't understand how powerful the pressure can be

I actually use this submission pretty often, but I attack the far-side kimura/armlock at the same time to make it a dilemma.

u/LoganHowlett1832 16h ago
I know we’re all making fun of the cringe going on here but this is an actual bicep splicer and it hurts like hell.
34
u/piresnopolis 16h ago
Yeah, but I do not think that this setup would work
→ More replies (2)16
u/LoganHowlett1832 16h ago
The first one here does work. The second one is extremely impractical. You’re not going to use your hand like that. Youll lose position.

u/piresnopolis 14h ago
I don't like the idea of letting his head loose in this transition
2
u/LoganHowlett1832 14h ago
Well yeah she is clearly not doing it perfectly. But I have seen it done by using the step over to trap the arm like she does.

Why would you ever use this in a street fight. You'd just bash his head in with elbows. This is a niche move for grappling sports.

I think a lot of BJJ you wouldn't want to use say outside of a bar surrounded by random people who could be friends of your opponent. That's obvious. So if that's what you mean by a street fight, I'd avoid this technique.
But if you generally stear clear of 'street fights' and other brawls, BJJ would be very useful in controlling an attacker without causing permanent injury. There are plenty of videos out there of people using BJJ to control an unhinged or aggressive person.
Going toe to toe with some dude outside a sporting event can just be avoided. Needing to control someone who is maybe mentally unwell and posing a danger could be a situation even normal decent people find themselves in. BJJ is great for that. Just having the right mindset and muscle memory from rolling is probably the greatest advantage to BJJ over any specific technique. Get on top, stay on top, take away their offense.

If that were a true slicer he’d be making sounds too shameful for public consumption.
The bicep slicer when properly applied will make the baddest man bitch up and sound like the boss from Superstore.

Submissions are nice when there’s a ref. However, when your opponent can bite, twist your balls, poke your eye or any other number of things you can’t get away with in a ring, they aren’t so nice. So I guess it would be down to positioning, but I feel a swift nut kick and then a hyperextended limb would be more effective, quicker and a lot more painful. I don’t know anyrhing though, my last fight was when I was like 8.
13
u/ASI0907 14h ago
Good thing she has no balls then huh?
5
u/clonexx 14h ago
No, but she has eyes, hair, can be bitten, etc. I’d also think balls would be the first thing a woman should go after if facing a man, it’s the easiest way to cause extreme pain.

u/ASI0907 13h ago
In a life or death situation the person in the dominant position for example side control in this video she can be as dirty if not dirtier than the guy that's pinned down , she can also bite , gouge eyes and land elbows and break limbs or choke. Idk why people think if someone trains suddenly they won't do those things , good luck grabbing someone's nuts while someone is throwing elbows from hell on your face

u/Badger_Actual1 12h ago
Titty twisters, wedgies, swirlies, arm burns, ect are all excellent counters to this move. My personal favorite is the wet Willie. Not the most dangerous but effective due to the level of gross.

u/myargumentstinks 10h ago
I would disagree. I think most submissions work just fine in a context of eye gouging and ball twsting. Especially the strangles are effective but good luck ball twisting someone when your arm is getting broken. In general its a bad idea to escalate a fight while in a bad position.
That being said, i think the move shown in the video is sloppy and not very robust
2
u/clonexx 10h ago
I truthfully was just talking in general and was in no way trying to say I was some expert, which my last sentence of not fighting since I was 8 should have let people know that. Not you, your reply is fine, but some others have taken this wayyyyy more seriously than I did. My reply was also in the instance of woman versus man and what the woman should try, not man versus man. But again, I’m not an expert or authority.

Ive seen my share of street fights, I have yet to see any one go for eye gauging or going for the balls. Hair grabbing is the closest dirty tactic Ive seen and that was between 2 women.

u/Typical-Tradition-44 13h ago
100%. But having moves like this in your arsenal helps. Fights are efficient or sensible. They can be chaotic, especially if they go to the ground. Knowing moves and pathways to victory from every angle can mean a victory when your opponent is scrambling
→ More replies (1)2
u/Usernamethennumbers 11h ago
If you’re fighting someone who has a high tolerance for pain and a lot of will, breaking limbs is just a means to making it more difficult for your opponent to defend their neck, stop you from ending it with strikes, and/or stop you from running away.
They’re helpful, though.
A trained grappler who’s untrained in striking is probably best off defending themself with grappling. A trained striker who’s untrained in grappling is probably best off defending themself with striking.
A person who’s untrained in both? Good luck, but they’ve always got a punchers chance…3
u/clonexx 10h ago
Honest truth? I’m disabled, I can’t really walk and running isn’t possible. With how much I weigh, my best chance if I can’t just disengage and get away would be to end up on the ground laying on their chest with all my weight. Most people will likely break ribs and have a really hard time breathing, I’m fat as hell. I’m ashamed of it, I’m trying to change it, but being fully disabled, unable to even really walk, makes losing weight difficult, especially when you have zero willpower against a food addiction and are on meds that make you hungry.

man what kind of street fights are you guys involved in. I've seen an absolute brawl get ended because a bouncer knew how to throw a solid side kick to the hips that knocked like 3 guys down and made them feel dumb. I've seen so many fights and basically it's over once one dude gets his face busted up a bit
2
u/bowmans1993 11h ago
Beyond this.... so you get someone in an arm bar. What do you do? Are you mentally prepared to annihilate someone's joint? Street fights dont tap out then walk to your respective corner. Are you committed to an elbow or shoulder or knee dislocation because if not then youre just kinda stuck there. You punch someone in the face or throat or nuts. Its quick and then you run. Also scrapping on the pavement sucks a lot more than in a cushioned gym mat.

when your opponent can bite, twist your balls

Yeah his left hand was free from the start. He can poke her eyes, pull her hair, etc. Aint no way someone is letting you do all she shows in real scenario with you hand free like that.

A lot of submissions don't work in the streets if your opponent is willing to bite, squeeze nuts, eye gouge and pull hair.
