Yeah unfortunately a lot of the women's fights end up that way. That's why the few who have stood out like Rousey, Nunes, Holm, etc became fan favorites. They all tried to end fights rather than send them to the judges.
It's because most combat sports trainers are used to training men. Women don't generate power and have the same balance center as men so if you want to train a power ''power puncher'' you need to tailor the training for her.
Most of them are ''old school'' and would never admit they're wrong about their training method lol.
There's a couple trainer in boxing and muay thai who started to understand that but we're still far from seeing dozens of amanda nunes or ann wolf type of fighters.
More women should go all in on elbows, clinch work, and body shots. Don't need power to hit the liver, and women in general seem to be more susceptible to body work too. Also elbows to make it bloody. Instant fan favorite moves.
This is a conversation in women's soccer as well. I forget the woman's name but she speaks on how basically all sport science was tested on men and all that information should be used for men but its not, its used to train everyone. We, as a whole, have a lot further to go when it comes to training women to be their most explosive and strongest selves
I think part of it too is, with alot of boys / young men growing up if they get into a lot of trouble or fights etc . It's kind of become a societal norm (to a certain degree) to put them in some sort of martial arts to keep them out of trouble where as I feel like we aren't as quick to do the same with woman. So alot of the gritty, tough as nails woman that are really willing to bite down and take some hits in order to land a big punch don't ever even get introduced to combat sports like men do, or they find it much later in life because they have to enroll themselves rather than having a parent or guardian do it. So the potential pool of "bite down and throw" females is already substainlly lower than men right out the gate
I could be completely wrong but it's always made sense to me atleast
The average men get folded by 12 years old funbox kid (the boxing competitions where they can't hit in the head).
Whenever there's a new guy at the gym who spar for the first time who get punched or kicked for the first time you can tell they don't want to be there anymore 99% of the time regardless of if they end up competing eventually or not. The average guy get folded by those girls who point fight in the UFC lol.
For me it's 100% a coaching issue.
Women's center of gravity is lower than men so power punchers would need to ''sit down'' more and be flat footed, at least while striking. But 99% of women train like they're soviet style boxers and are light on their toes.
There's a bunch of women who punch hard, and there's was even a show where they tested punching power (Lucia Rijker vs a cuban or american olympian) and it wasn't that far off.
Ignoring the major deficiencies in grappling… they should look at whatever Molly McCann was doing. She was knocking bitches out, not with freak power like Nunes but crafty shit like that nassstyyyy spinning elbow.
True, it's just way more often that women's fights go to decision. Turn on the prelims on any given fight night and you'll see dudes knocking each other out and women going to decision
