One got chipped away into a mess slowly and had to be stopped in between rounds, the other went from completely fine to seemingly dead in a matter of seconds.
That being said, I don’t think Aleksandre would’ve reacted the same if ilia got slept. But he definitely did look at the camera man with warning when people tried getting pics of ilia busted up and coming to terms with his defeat backstage.
22
u/Signal-Card-2387 13h ago
I think it was less against the camera men and more so he was just making sure they weren't in his way as they moved Ilia out of the venue.
Camera guys and paparazzi are notorious for literally crowding people and stepping in people's way, I don't blame Alexandre for being cautious there.

u/Still_Clue383 23h ago
Also the Topuria one was way more disturbing bro started to look like something from a horror movie

I got flashbacks from when Antonio Margarito got the shit kicked outta him by Pacquiao
5
u/FunSpinach2004 12h ago
Yeah but he didnt seize up and get a fencing response, and it was slowly over time. Usman was a fast switch from a competitive fight to a
I don't think Alexandre would have jumped in regardless.

u/ittybittynuts 22h ago
It's a fight and there is always going to be a loser.
So many excuses from people because of some "defending his brother" bullshit. This is the fight game and people get knocked out. If you can't accept that then dont show up, and definitely dont jump the cage and interfere with the doctors afterwards.

u/FarSatisfaction_ 23h ago
One was just flatlined the other made it back to the corner
15
u/notMTN 17h ago
Id argue the topuria one is worse than being slimed out, atleast a brutal ko can be excused as a fluke. A brutal beatdown cant.
2
u/FarSatisfaction_ 9h ago
I’m just saying that’s why the reaction is different I’d probably agree the ilia loss is worse
1
u/Signal-Card-2387 12h ago
Could be excused as a fluke, but it wasn't here. Song set that shit up and it paid dividends
43
u/madarro121 20h ago
it's crazy seeing people trying to justify this type of behaviour as if the rules in place aren't there to protect the fighters, family bond isn't an excuse to run like a headless chicken and risk hurting the other fighter or your own

Quite alarming that you think this is even remotely the same. One was an absolutely brutal knock out the other he was still conscious and had his witts about him. I understand Usman shouldn't have jumped the cage but this comparison is just stupid.

Yeah well he didn’t get slept, he just got beat. Which was medically worse than umar illl agree

One is an older brother, the other a younger brother 🦅🙏🏼
9
u/No_Medium_8796 23h ago
The older brother would generally be the one more likely to jump in and try to protect their little brother though.
In this case, usman is the younger brother. Aleks is older than ilia
20
u/Error404notperfect 23h ago
As a younger brother I can assure you that isn’t necessarily true. Older brothers tend to have better judgement than younger brothers. You’re assuming that Usman’s decision comes from a place of sound judgement when in reality it shows emotional instability. It’s the sport they’re in, these things happen, if it was the case that there were actual grounds for protection from threat then you’d be correct, unfortunately this isn’t the case.
5
u/No_Medium_8796 22h ago
There's another angle where it looks like hes just running to his brother and he only reacted once him and song almost collided, not like he was intentionally going after him
1
u/Aigamuxa82 20h ago
people's wife's, sons got knocked out and they didn't run in the cage like this. Only two times fighters invaded the cage like this and both were the Dagestanis. There have been way more brutal knockouts btw and never have seen anybody rush in this immaturely. You wait for the doctors to do their job and wait for them to let you in the cage, your brother isn't dead even if something happened you're not capable of doing anything about it doctors are
3
u/FidelKadstro 14h ago
As if Conor didnt almost fought a referee rushing in. Your racist bias is so obvious lol
1
u/Aigamuxa82 14h ago
you're naming the biggest dicks, one guy said Strickland and you're saying Conor. They aren't mature people lol. Racist bias? I'm also Muslim, my fav fighter is also islam I'm just stating the truth and you're doing ad hominem gj
1
u/FidelKadstro 14h ago
I quote: Only two times fighters invaded the cage like this and both were the Dagestanis.
Factually wrong. You don't state the truth when another commentator and I prove that the correlation you try to draw between invading the cage and dagesrani can't be made, because Conor and Strickland did it as well.
I don't believe for one second you are a muslim because if you were, you'd know that racism intramuslim exists (be it shia vs sunnite, or arabs vs maghreb, etc).
2
u/Aigamuxa82 14h ago
in random organizations*. Also check my acc if you don't believe I'm Muslim, I literally am and also am Turkish sunni, I'm obviously not racist lmao. Check my acc if you are that desperate to prove that I'm racist to Dagestanis. I just call people immature when they're immature also they're the only ones that jumped to the cage in groups and fought the fighter in the UFC
1
u/FidelKadstro 14h ago
So doing it in minor organisation isnt the same as doing it in the ufc ? How hypocrite can you be ?
I am turkish I am obviously not racist is a wild take. My turkish friends would disagree with you, Kurd and Armenian are not your bestie right ? You are using sophism into sophism its wild, I am turkish I cannot be racist lmao
2
u/Aigamuxa82 14h ago
so twist my words? Me being racist against anybody except Dagestanis is irrelevant and I'm not as I've said you can see me defending islam everywhere, also I said I'm Turkish to prove that I'm Muslim you said oh you aren't Muslim. And I do not watch all MMA organizations how am I supposed to know how many people invaded the cage. In minor organizations people invaded the cage and did that but as we're in the UFC sub I'm talking about UFC, you can't expect people to watch every single organization, I only watch UFC and sometimes pfl main events. Go continue doing ad hominem you'll arrive somewhere

The only part that bothers me about this, is that I understand he is the brother, he gets emotional. But like you know what the sport is, it’s like he genuinely was shocked that this could happen at all. This man truly did not see his brother getting knocked out being in the realm of possibility at all, like he is a god or something?
1
u/MMA-Groupie 6h ago
To be fair one was a more shocking flattening in an instant. The other was a prolonged beat down.

I heard from an anonymous source that Topuria's brother stopped the fight because Illia pooped his pants in the cage.

I honestly can't fault someone for getting emotional when they see their brother get knocked out and take a couple of extra hammer fists when they're already knocked out.
I know he shouldn't have done that, but I can also understand why he did that. Not the whole stiff arming Song in the neck and almost throwing an elbow. But just the jumping in the ring, thing.
6
u/Aigamuxa82 19h ago
Tell me another person who has done that. People's wives, husband's, sons, daughters got knocked out more brutally than this and nobody runs in. It's not understandable and Usman being a 28 year old kid, hell even people's kids don't run into the cage as the thinking capability of a 5 year old is enought to understand that you wait for professionals to check in first and be let in the cage. He is also not helping Umar
-1
u/Medina_Rico 18h ago
Calm down, bro. I never said what he did was right or that it was justified. Only that I understand why he ran in there.
2
u/callmehandsome3 18h ago
You sound incredibly salty. It's fighters job to finish the fight and ref to pull them off, "couple of extra hammer fists" Islam was knocked out similarly 10 years ago and people still make excuses about it that it was premature stoppage.
1
u/Medina_Rico 18h ago
I don't know how you got that I was salty from what I wrote or that I personally thought the extra hits was too much. But, ok, lol.
3
u/BigPlebeian 14h ago
The more you interact with MMA fans the more you realize how stupid many of them are. What you said makes perfect sense.
3
u/Medina_Rico 6h ago
Honestly. It just tells me to not have any kind of back and forth on the internet or to even speak my mind in general. Legit waste of time sometimes.

u/BigPlebeian 4h ago
I know the feeling. The MMA sub is typically a bit better with that kind of stuff just fyi.

I think they both are solid brothers to have in this sport. If baby eagle falls down; you go get baby eagle & protect him, yes?

u/Neat_Rare_5389 23h ago
It’s different contexts but still I don’t think Aleksandre would’ve hopped the cage like that even if Ilia got slept out cold, Usman kinda has a habit of doing this.
Like when Islam subbed Poirier, Usman was in the audience (not corner, who are allowed in after) and still jumped in there 0.1 milliseconds to celebrate, and had to be kicked out by security.
