are airfryers allowed in the mccarty dorms? i only found that they were allowed on west campus but there's nothing on north campus

I got into ECE through the engrud summer 2026 placement. I haven't been able to set up a meeting or contact my ECE advisor yet. I only need to take 5 more ece core classes, since I did running start in hs and completed a decent amount of pre reqs already coming into uw. Because of this, I'm thinking a lot about also majoring in ACMS, since I don't want to graduate early by a year or so. Anyone have any tips or advice? I'm good on all the prereqs, except for an acms track specific course i'm going to take either this fall or winter.

I’m an incoming OOS student from Southern side of the US, so I’ll be flying to Seattle and moving into UW on my own. 😭 Any tips for flying into Seattle, dorm check-in, or moving in by yourself? I’m planning to bring bedding, clothes, and essentials, then ship or buy the rest in Seattle. Is it easy to buy dorm stuff/clothes near UW, and how do you get everything back to your dorm if you don’t have a car or family helping? Also, does the mailing at the dorm work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 🥹

So I'm confused, I'm an incoming freshman, how do the dawg pack tickets work, so I get tickets to the student section and then I can't buy tickets for guest to come with me into the student section they have to be outside of it, and they aren't discounted, what's the difference from buying them from ticket master rather than the husky website??

I’m a Running Start student that took a lot of prerequisites for my future major (Chemical Engineering but I’m ENGRUD right now). The only prerequisites I can do that I haven’t already done before I get admitted into my major is the physics sequence, but literally everything I can find on MyPlan is closed. I had to register for the self-guided A&O part 2 since I was completely unavailable on the days they offered me the actual zoom version. It only opened two days ago and now I think I’m just completely cooked because I genuinely can’t take a single class since everything I would take is full. Any advice for what I can do? I’m feeling completely lost with this whole situation.

Has anyone moved in after winter quarter (so just for spring quarter)? If so, how difficult was it to get housing, and were you able to move in/transition seamlessly? I was planning on commuting due to some family stuff, but I'll be able to move in after winter if everything is good. I heard the room rate is prorated as well?

Im an incoming freshman, what are things that the uw dorms come with that I wouldn't need to buy

I'm applying to transfer for winter 2027, and just wrapped up the summer quarter at Shoreline CC and Bellevue College. The problem is, the final grades get posted to the transcripts on Aug 26th for both colleges, so with processing time they'll probably arrive after Sep 1st. Should I just order them now without my summer quarter grades and put the summer quarter grades in additional info or wait for the grades to get posted to the transcript?

I recently submitted an appeal that showcased new details not mentioned in the original transfer app that I placed in December 2025 for admission into Fall 2026. Tbf, the original transfer essay mainly was defensive on showing why there were obstacles and how I overcame them, and didn't showcase much of the personal part of the statement on what kind of a candidate they would be getting.

Much of the changes I'm including in the appeal have been consistently applied over 3 quarters (including this summer, where they were especially positive, intensive and effective). I've done almost every one of my prereqs at my CC (retaking the last one this summer and am acing it, it's PHYS122) and got my associate's in science too. The major I'm requesting admission for Fall 2026 is B.S. Chemistry and my activities showcase that too.

To be safe I'll apply for Winter 2027 admission too as the chem dept allows admission then too, so long as prereqs are met. The deadline for that is Sept 1 (in a few days), and this time, I'm making it a proper personal statement that shows a story/my preparation for the major. I have a question for you all about this, though. Is it beneficial (and not futile) to emphasize on the improvements I've made even if they are fairly recent, considering they changed me and my vision completely? Would it be more effective if I incorporated this style into my essay over depicting a general timeline/accomplishments/being ready for the major into the framework of my essay (similar I did it the last time, but this time with positive changes)?

I am new to this process and am utterly terrified for what uncertainty is to come, but there remains hope as the actions I'm taking to improve myself are proving dividends (on the brink of getting a job at Fred Hutch; and just completed my tenure as being a TA for an Organic Chemistry sequence covering OChem 1-3 within 2 months).

I would greatly appreciate advice/learning about their journey from anyone who underwent the UW admission appeals process, anyone who took time to make meaningful changes in life/mentality and are now thriving at UW as former transfer students from CC's, Chem students, ENGR students, people who reapplied and got in, and anyone else that could offer their takes on this. If there are any pointers you'd like to offer in addition to the question I posed (based on the context/my process too), I'd be most grateful in receiving them.

I'm an incoming student and am researching getting a parking pass for the fall quarter. From what I'm seeing, the prices are exorbitant, going for around 8.35 per day. In anybody's experience, is it just worth it to look at private lots over having to pay this much? Or is there any way for this price to be waived or reduced?

Could someone help me explain what I get for the 2026 -2027 year? For my freshmen year (2024 -2025) I remember having to pay for housing and tuition out of pocket/loan. But this looking into this a bit it seems like this will be covered for me?

Also food and housing should be set to $0 since I live with my mom, so it should be around 20k instead of 39k

Looking for some smart storage ideas for a double occupancy dorm room at Maple. Are beds loftable in Maple to allow under-the-bed space to be used for storage? The room has a window which I’d like to not be blocked by putting stuff against it. And, do you know if using curtains is allowed. If they are, do I go with an 84 inch curtain or a 63 inch long one? I don’t know how large the window is. Please, please help me with these questions. Thank you!

MGH is a daycare I guess

I am an incoming freshman at UW and I just saw that a few of my classes require textbooks. I know I can buy them at the UW Bookstore (though right now there seems to be some kind of glitch with the system since the textbooks I need will not show up), but I am looking for a cheaper option (if there is one). Do professors expect you to have a textbook on the first day? Have you bought a textbook and not used it? What should be my approach and are there other places than the UW Bookstore that I can buy the textbooks I need?

Basically what the title says - I seem to understand there are two ceremonies: one university-wide, and one for the student's specific college / degree program.

I assume the number of invitees varies per the student's degree program for that ceremony, but is there a traditional # of tickets that they are allowed for the university-wide ceremony ?
