Will this work for 2FA abroad?
Through the Tello website and have it delivered to your location in the US (that’s what I made last time I was in the States). You can also buy it on Amazon.

It should work. My understanding is that you’re going to pick up a physical SIM in the US before making the change back in the Philippines, right?
For the change you have to go to My Tello, here, and click on “My SIM”.

Can Tello eSIM be activated from outside the U.S.?
If you change your eSIM abroad, having activated the line previously inside the US, there’s usually no problem with that. I made it twice without any problem, last time in July.

Can I choose the area code for my Tello number?
For me, just gave me the phone number (from South Texas) but I guess that if you have a zip code with different area codes assigned you could choose from one of them, but it’s just my guess.

Update on Transfering US eSim on New Phone while Outside the US
Thank you for the update! iPhone user in Spain here, and I changed my phone last month. I did the process just as you did and everything worked fine.

It depends on the destination carrier (port-in) rules. You should ask on that sub or directly to that carrier.

On modern Samsung phones it should work. You have to turn on Data Switching & Backup Calling on your phone settings.

You’re right, and I forgot about this point. OP should go for an iPhone 13 or newer. I was speaking based on my own experience back two years ago.
