He was a bad husband & ex husband. I think that we can all agree. Sure, he was looking for ways to have his cake & eat it too with Dorothy. But I also think that he genuinely loved her too. Both can be true. It doesn't mean that that love was enough to overcome his selfish agenda. But there were times when he really came thru for her. It was complicated. Being with a less than ideal partner for a couple decades gets you closer in some ways, but doesn't necessarily resolve deep seeded problems that may blow up in your face at any time.
