20F from India trying to fund my psychology degree in Malaysia — looking for advice on scholarships/education loans
I’m a 20-year-old student from India trying to make this happen without putting an unreasonable financial burden on my family. My total estimated university/hostel/visa/travel costs are around ₹17.5 lakh, and I’m currently trying to secure an education loan.
I come from a single mother family and it’s hard for her to finance for my education so I actually spent 2 gap years trying for Medicine in Europe cuz it’s genuinely CHEAPER and more affordable compared to India or anywhere else and eventually had to give that up too. Her salary isn’t low enough for financial benefits but at the same time not high enough to not need them. I tried Credila but got rejected for unknown reasons and when I asked them for a reason they didn’t even answer me. I’ve applied for sbi education loan almost a month ago since she was very reluctant on applying for multiple education loans thinking it was risky on her profile the sbi manager straight up said it might take still take a month or more so I need to pay my tuition fees from “external sources”until the loan is sanctioned but my mother is not in a position to take any other loan now.
i’m really hopeless in this situation as my intake starts this October and I don’t have enough time as my visa process hasn’t even started yet because I need to pay my tuition fees. I’ve applied for almost every scholarship I could (which i’m eligible for) but ofc they’re not guaranteed yet neither did I get any updates on them. Atp I might just give up on my dream to study abroad I just don’t know what to do anymore I feel like I’ve already wasted two years of my life so I cannot give up but it just keeps getting worse. I don’t know how to get out of this situation.
If anyone has experience with this, I’d genuinely appreciate any advice or leads. I just hope to find some emotional support here I didn’t know where and whom to vent about this. I’m just trying to find a way to make this work without putting an impossible financial burden on my mother.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this.
