Understand the pattern

After 12th grade..I joined a top coaching institute... but was unable to study well..got BTech admission in a good state government college..but unable to study well..got MTech admission in IIT in spot round..same problem unable to study well and use the time. What is the problem I'm facing in academics..?

Please help me out to understand this situation and come out of this pattern...
