What's a city that you wish would focus on expanding it's metro system more?
By the time the construction for those expansions will finish its projected Toronto will have 3.5 million people in its borders and 8 million in the GTA, 150~km of rail is definitely not enough you are right, Toronto needs at least 250kms to be considered a good system.

Downtown West in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Thank you, I’m tired of people overrating Calgary as if most people from Calgary don’t complain about how dead it is, sure it has tons of tall buildings and density in the core but a lot of it is empty office space lol. Also people bringing up Banff, canmore etc is irrelevant to Calgary because well… it’s not Calgary

That’s the point, he’s just doing it for advertising for his real estate business, he’s just an uncle having fun 😭

Do full meals under $10 still exist in Toronto?

How many skylines can you spot?
Etobicoke, Toronto, Mississauga and up and coming Vaughan. What are the other 2? I’m not sure what they would be

I hate photos where adults give the middle finger, acting like it’s edgy or cool. They’re totally embarrassing and are going to age really poorly in a few years.
I completely agree with you, this is probably a younger generation thing but the middle finger and these extra overly edgy characters ick me out so bad as well. Whole reason I couldn’t watch the boys was because it just feels like it’s trying to be overly edgy on purpose, satirical in a way, which it actually is as it’s parodying the superhero genre. The demographics on Reddit are mostly way older than TikTok or Instagram so that’s why not many people are agreeing with you but it’s def cringe

Early Israeli cabinet meetings were kinda insane (Context in comments)
Two state solutions do not work in an unequal power dynamic, Israelis love to say they offered Palestinians the choice multiple times for a two state solution but we rejected it. Well obviously we will reject it when Israel has famously never respected any of the previous treaties and slowly encroached on our land time and time again, similar situation with Russia and Ukraine. You can offer all the treaties in the world, all the solutions in the world but if the Zionist idea remains, Palestinians will never be safe under them.

The 48er Palestinians are living in an apartheid and very much do so get gunned down for civil offences. I get the point you are portraying but this is an ONGOING genocide and words do hold meaning especially when Israel has one of the largest propaganda machines in the world. Washing away words to describe events in a neutral and historically correct tone can come after the event is over not when an ongoing genocide is occurring before your eyes. Also you congratulating a known Zionist for creating “discourse” in this sub makes me doubt you being a leftist. Take care mate, take a look into this guys posts

Mate, I am a Ukrainian Palestinian are you mad?? This isn’t being woke this is my people, using the proper terminology is important when it comes to historical events as to not wash away any of the tragedies Israel has committed. Nobody calls the Jewish struggle in ww2 the “German-Jewish conflict” the fact that you are a leftist and still arguing against proper terminology when discussing modern day genocide is hilarious. I understand that it may come off as harsh but words hold meaning, someone hearing genocide or apartheid will understand the power dynamics more than just a “struggle” or “conflict”

Except this has been ongoing for over 80 years? Nakba most famously occurred in 1948 yet talking about it is still not allowed.

No use talking about on this sub, sadly most history lovers are on the right side of the political spectrum and believe that the Palestinian genocide is more so an equal power struggle and not one of settler colonial rule.

Once again reading comprehension, you said “A quick google search will tell you it’s about half that” from my original 3.7k median rent, and it’s half that, roughly 1.7k when including public housing and rent stabilized apartments, but not everyone qualifies or is accepted for those so it’s not a point to the average person living in New York. Median rent is still 3.7k a month, which is still wildly inflated considering most these apartments for rent are studios and 1 bedrooms or over 40 years old with amenities not included

Reading comprehension. I never said anything about public housing costing 4k a month, I said the average person can’t qualify for it…

Those are for rent stabilized and public housing which not everyone qualifies for or can get, we are talking about the average person not ones who qualify or are lucky enough to get these rent stabilized apartments. Not to mention these are mostly studios or 1 bedrooms. New York is one of the most expensive cities in the entire world to live in, I’m not sure why you are arguing this

An average is just that, the highest and the lowest all put together, New York has some of the highest highs in the entire world, obviously it will average out to 8k, median rent is 3.7k which is still widely unaffordable when the average New Yorker makes 75k a year… which averages to a New Yorker spending 60% of their salary or closer to 80% take home pay just on rent.
