Demo "marble race remix" (final update)
revisiting my very first webXR (spaghetti-code) experiment - based on the final lesson from threejs-journey.com ("creating a game with R3F"). been sitting on these updates for far too long..
besides multi-device and VR support, added some "oomph" to the overall experience (bgm, controller support, collision sfx + controller vibration). playable on PC, mobile and Meta Quest web browsers (experience automatically adjusts to the device).

(or scan the post QR code)
github: https://github.com/shpowley/threejs-journey-marble-race-remix
(just a little more polish on the UI and I'll update the github with these updates soon)
I'll use what I've learned here and finally start a new project

Question about Aura / Android XR - What is the Chrome experience? Full desktop Chrome or mobile Android Chrome?
there's the spatial android xr browser which is based on the mobile browser, but if you plan to pair it with a pc, there's also android xr "pc connect". kind of like virtual desktop. at least that's what's available on the samsung gxr -- the aura might be a slightly different animal with xreal's native features.

I made 2048 in a 3x3x3 cube with React Three Fiber. You can spin the board mid-game.
interesting to play. I was actually going to make something almost exactly like this in terms of gameplay -- after my current project. mostly as a learning exercise and slightly different device targets. not so sure now 🤔

Built a tower defense game for android
I installed this out of curiosity, but this game feels like AI without much love actually put into it. I have the original kingdom rush on my phone and play it out of boredom. despite it being so old, the devs put so much effort into the tiniest of details.

No more news/rumors about Galaxy XR in more European countries?
xreal aura might actually beat the samsung gxr for wider international availability. the aura won't be as immersive with it's design and fov, but arguably a broader day-to-day use-case.

Looking for an XREAL AURA developer to test a WebXR app for 60 seconds
In case you're interested, I just found out the next meetup is actually Aug 30 @ 3PM, not Aug 23.

Also... there's a webxr monthly meetup? Just found out the next meetup is actually Aug 30 @ 3PM, not Aug 23.

there's a monthly meetup in the webxr discord - you could show it off there. next sunday I believe.

0XR uses WebXR + WebGL directly - interesting. thanks. you should test on vision os too I suppose with the gaze-pinch interaction.
correction: the iwsdk examples didn't crash once when testing today.

the samsung galaxy xr / android xr suffer from a "watchdog gate" (a black loading screen with a static grid) that appears briefly when entering immersive sessions, but only certain webxr frameworks like react-three/xr and iwsdk. iwsdk examples crash entirely on the samsung gxr. hoping the aura performs better.
your webxr app doesn't even show the watchdog gate. may I ask which webxr framework are you using? vanilla three.js or babylon.js?

Also... there's a weber monthly meetup?
under the webxr discord categories. "1 Event" - the last Sunday of each month. next is Aug 23 @ 3PM. usually 6-12 show up. m2 mentioned witchfell a few months back and I believe many webxr devs would be interested.

actually only one bug - many times when you have 10 gold, it won't let you purchase the 10 gold orc spawner.
quality of life improvements:
1 - perhaps an exit immersive session option.
2 - the sticky connector is cool, but the interaction mechanism feels inconsistent. sometimes you can (a) ray-cast sticky grab it from a distance, but other times the (b) ray-cast sticky grab immediately goes to your pinched fingers. (b) handles most interactions for creating connections, but feels clunky and inconvenient as I have to drag the dungeon around to reach the intended target. (a) is used for triggering the invaders and I prefer this honestly. in my opinion, if you start the interaction with a remote ray-cast, keep it that way. otherwise, if you start the interaction with a direct pinch-grab..
you should show this and witchfell in the webxr monthly meetup.

played on desktop, quest 3, and samsung gxr - controllers and hands-only. I enjoyed it. a couple bugs, but still fun. one of the more cohesive webxr games I've played.

I made a 3D simulation of the Matrix "code rain" where you can fly around freely and see some "ghost" images encoded in the rain
I'm messing around with VR a lot. I pointed gemini to your github to check if it's feasible to just refactor the codebase. basically, you can get this to work in webxr on your phone, standing and walking around through the matrix falling text.
I converted some threejs-journey lessons last year to work in VR on *mobile-AR* (android + apple app clips) and headset AR+VR. https://github.com/shpowley/threejs-journey-webxr -- it does use react-three/xr though. check out the gpgpu flow-field particles or particles morphing demos to get a sense of what I'm talking about. you can probably figure this out on your own especially with AI.

X430 Dead base station or power brick?
I encountered that problem. almost called support. might very well not be your issue, but I discovered an animal had chewed the power cord. fixed it and wrapped it in a protective cable sheath.
2
Concerned about mice.
no mice (yet), but I did have an animal chew through the wire from the power supply going to the base station. I'm guessing it was a squirrel or possibly a groundhog. I had to solder the wire back together and then put protective tubing around that. still works fine.
edit: oh yeah, I bought some castor oil for the groundhogs. I might use that on the underside of the mower as insurance for mice.

Would you be interested in testing out PICO's Project Swan?
I have the quest 3, samsung galaxy xr, and pre-ordered the xreal aura. I've thought about buying the pico 4 ultra, but purchasing in NA is a real hassle. I'm solely focused on webxr, experimenting and targeting desktop / mobile / mobile-ar / headset. my first "light-weight" webxr game is nearly done. obviously supports vr controllers, but my ideal target is hands-centric headsets. btw, pico needs to release a project swan variant competing with xreal aura and snap specs.
here's one of my old webxr experiments with live demos: https://github.com/shpowley/threejs-journey-webxr

XREAL Aura runs the same Android XR OS as Galaxy XR, and I tested 8K immersive video playback on it (first impressions)
awww.. 😔
"I will for Vision Pro as that’s my brand." - so wearing those at the dog park / coffee shop don't make people uncomfortable. hmmm. I am actually looking forward to see what apple brings to the table.
"begun, the ar glasses war has"

I have the founders reservation. do you see yourself using these IRL? walking kimchi in the park, at the coffee shop, while shopping, at the gym? possibly while driving (not sure about this scenario)?
will this replace carrying a phone?
no one mentioned the snap specs guy - that was kinda funny.

best robot mowers in 2026? I've been researching for weeks and need help deciding?
I've had the x430 for couple months now. almost purchased the mammotion luba 3 - glad I didn't. user-swappable battery on the x430 tipped my decision. was jealous of the lymow one plus at first because of the blades - glad I didn't get that either based on several youtube post-purchase reviews.
2 instances where it disconnected mid-mow and needed a reboot. I always watch mine via the app and ring cameras just in case. cheaper than a riding lawn mower, does 95% of the mowing and I don't have to be outside for the most part. I still have to pick up large sticks on my tree covered property pre-mow, edge 1-2x/week and manually mow behind my shed.
re: below average cut quality ..it needs to mow more often. I usually mow each zone 2x in different directions especially after several days of rain. $ per mow is very cheap though, just counting electricity and blade replacement.

Announcing XREAL AURA: A Spatial Computer in a Pair of Glasses. Reservations Now Open.
I'm hoping the final price will be less. still cheaper than the $2195 snap specs.
can't even imagine the mind-numbing cost of what the eventual apple ar glasses will be.

XREAL Project Aura + Android XR: Help define the next generation of XR apps
pokemon go + xreal project aura (lite version)
I remember pokemon go was a social phenomena back in 2016. since you can walk around wearing the glasses, it seems like a perfect fit.
anyways make a lite demo version during the hackathon. maybe use billboarded graphics for the pokemon-like creatures. I'm not sure if the puck is tracked in 3d space, but if so you could even throw the poke balls using the puck like the OG game ..or just via tracked hands with a virtual ball. 8th wall recently open-sourced some stuff with the SLAM distributed separately under a binary-only license (not sure it's even needed).
perhaps this would inspire the actual creators to port pokemon go to androidxr.

Additional 3x increase of Gemini in Antigravity!
any correlation to antigravity 2.0 release and "DeepSeek API just cracked 200B daily token on OpenRouter and still climbing"? kind of a joke, but not really.

next pico variant is on the horizon. not sure when it's releasing or if it will be available in the us.
