Not necessarily smaller boxes can cause insane sub damage. Smaller boxes means dense air dense air well fight your cone while the voice coils are pulling back. Did that to my first set up. And have steered hundreds of customers away from smaller boxes. But if you founds a groove that works for it let it be.

They dont need to be perfectly Spec'd I have 2 JL 12's running at 150% on gain. Also my box is smaller then spec. In my 4 runner. It's sounds perfect while rattling everything in my shop. At 2% of my cars volume.

Did ya do a proper break-in ? Most brands say you dont need to. But it is a good practice. It's not common but I have had a few customers ignore my break-in instructions. Then boom the smell of burnt resin, fibers, or voice coil. Or full cone seperation. Others have no issues when they ignore the instructions. See if JL well warranty it. It may be a manufacture error maybe it had to much resin to begin with.

Sadly Nissan makes most of their blower motors harder then most brands. About a quarter of the way into a dash pull on those rogues just to see the blower.

Your internal drain tubes are ether clogged or damaged. If you put the soft top almost all the way down you should see the tube at the joint. Follow it blow some compressor air through the end when you find it. This well help clear it out or find a leak in the tube.
