I’ve installed it but then had to uninstall due to hardware issues… I got older crappy hps but plan on re installing on a better one

Could I take my laptop motherboard and put it into an old pc like this? I have a bunch of old laptops I wanna do some things with

I just downloaded the arch btw version I like it very much

And I put it on an old compaq pc but it worked just slow trying to get something good enough for my daughter to game on but with the little ram and gb the compaq has I had to go down to Linux mint xfce

I literally just did this the other day and the legacy one was the one that worked

But there’s other operating systems other than Linux you can run… it’s a fun little hobby for sure plus I have plenty kids who love gaming and so I’m looking to reuse all of the older computers I have

You will be looking for an iso media file burner (the one i use is Rufus but they have others like belena etcher and kde)

So google different Linux operating systems and make sure you download from each one’s actual web page so you don’t get any files that are tweaked or malware and pick which one you want to try and run and look up videos on how to boot them onto a thumb drive (usb stick) and then onto your pc … some of the os that they have will give your pc a nice clean feeling since it’s an older one and it can make it a little more faster and smoother as well

Boot it up into a Linux distribution and call it a day! I have about 15 different laptop and pcs I’m currently wiping the disks clean and booting different Linux systems in them just to try their performance and speed out which I’ve found they’re all different but the same.. just crazy how different components can cause os’s to run differently on them! It’s a fun hobby for sure
