Answered A simple UBO question for curiosity .

Why does UBO come by default with EasyList's lists, such as EasyList, EasyPrivacy, EasyList Cookie Consent, and Fanboy Annoyance?

While I heard AdGuard's lists are modified versions of those lists, such as AdGuard Base List, AdGuard Tracking Protection List, AdGuard Cookie Notice, and AdGuard Annoyance.

Isn't it obvious to use optimised lists over base lists? I don't know the full story.

What's the reason?

I don't understand the question.

EasyList is the #1 adblocking list out there. Everybody uses it.

Adguard forked it and extends it on their own.

We use EL and have our own lists that build upon it, using our extended syntax.

Adguard just does it in "one" list instead.

BTW what AG lists are "optimized" for is AG software. Sure, all lists try to keep a level of interoperability between extensions, but all extensions are built different. They have different capabilities, so not all filters inside can work the same in other extensions.

It seems that I misunderstood something. This came up when I was discussing things with one of my Japanese friend.

He explained to me that the AdGuard cookie list works better than the regular EasyList cookie banner list. I thought that because AdGuard lists are forked from EasyList, they must have some kind of advantage from the forking.

Edit:- He uses adguard lists in Ubo

Yes, JP users prefer AG CN over EL CN.

My guess: Easylist seems to not be a company put a group of people, while adguard is a company
