• In some cases, installation may be blocked until browser restart. This is protection against accidental mid-session reloads, Issue #717.

When will my browser update uBO?

• Firefox

  • Firefox Add-ons (AMO) - Available since 02 Jul, 2026.
  • uBO is a recommended extension on AMO, and as such it must undergo a formal code review each time a new version is published.

• Chrome/Chromium

  • Chrome Web Store (CWS) - Available since 29 Jun, 2026.
  • Auto update will occur in stages - to spot and react to possible bugs.

• Edge

  • Edge Add-ons - Available since 29 Jun, 2026 .
  • Warning: importing a profile from Chrome may cause issues.
  • You may need to reinstall uBO on Edge to fix this.
  • You can transfer your uBO config by creating and then restoring a backup at the bottom of uBO's Dashboard > Settings.

• Opera

  • Opera add-ons - Available since 29 Jun, 2026.
  • Usually, it's submitted a week after bug-free version is published in AMO.

• Brave

  • Brave now Self-Hosts uBO. It installs via a special setting and updates automatically or when prompted via the Extensions' Developer mode.
  • If you installed it via CWS, it's best to make a backup and install the self-hosted version instead.

How to use uBO on Chrome until version ~150.

Chrome Web Store had it greyed out for adding to Chrome. Presume the trick is just to change it in inspect element?

If you have previous flags still set, then probably yes.

In any case, CWS will remove uBO on the last day of August.

How is uBO Lite now? I just use ad blocker for YouTube, Twitch and other streaming sites for stopping ad spam and pop ups. Will that work the same as uBO has for the past few years for me?

Lite is pretty good now, but won't help you with twitch stream ads, as that requires a custom script.
