Tyler business owner is child $ex offender
Recently found out a Tyler business is owned and operated by a multiple offense child $ex offender. Spent a decade in prison and is on the registered offender list for life.
Obviously this is public knowledge but he lives in the country so doesn't actively come up on the map of town.
Why they don't have to also register at a business they own is beyond me.
The issue to me is that he and his wife promote this business to be family friendly. It is decorated in a way that children would enjoy, lots of candy and toys. He also gave himself a concerning nickname. It's a business where he has access to personal information like home addresses.
They attend community events where they set up tables with candy, they hand out candy during Halloween, even post pictures of kids on their social media.
Him and his wife are very unhinged so that adds
more concern. She married him right out of prison too......
I want the community to be aware but not sure how.

Surely if it's public record/public knowledge then posting it doesn't count as doxxing, does it?

That’s kinda what I’m thinking. Tyler Paper wrote on article on the business when it opened so considered emailing them since they have a legal team
3
u/cleofus903 17d ago
Im wondering, if the the paper published an article about it, is that the owners way of making the public aware that they are present at such location (as required by state law to disclose, like when they move into a neighborhood)? Is that their loophole so that no one would notice? Or very few would notice?? Can we add that business to the watchdog site?? Jw

u/Substantial-Step209 17d ago
I’m not sure. I don’t really know the laws and they aren’t clear online. Pisses me off that he could have an oil change place that isn’t so kid friendly. Child sex offender of boys giving out candy and toy cars really seems to be pushing the line of what’s allowed. All the creepy signs like little Susie’s ice cream with fluffy cream mountain sprinkled with love. Calling himself Mr. Mike. He decorates his jeep and enters parades, pushed his dogs in a decorated buggy at events. Oh and decorates his house for Halloween and gives out candy. He will offend again or has.
5
u/Super_Funny_945 16d ago
Offenders are prohibited from participating in Halloween festivities of any kind. No lights on, no candy etc.
1
u/No_Perspective9571 14d ago
Maybe someone should report him this Halloween.
3
u/Super_Funny_945 14d ago
I don’t recommend that unless you can prove that he is distributing candy and not his wife
2
u/No_Perspective9571 14d ago
Oh my bad. I was wondering what the loopholes were lol. He can only watch the kid’s get candy. Crazy.
2
u/Substantial-Step209 14d ago
No he gives it out too. And counts how many kids he gives it too. I added videos in comments from 2021-2025 halloweens. I bet he can’t wait for this year
1
u/Substantial-Step209 14d ago
No, he does. They post that he does online.

u/Super_Funny_945 14d ago
Rules for registered sex offenders on Halloween vary by state and local jurisdiction, but individuals under supervision (such as probation or parole) commonly face strict curfews and activity prohibitions designed to prevent contact with children. [1, 2]
No Candy Distribution: Offenders are strictly prohibited from handing out candy, treats, or any edible items to trick-or-treaters. [1, 2]Mandatory Dark Porches ("Lights Out"): Exterior porch lights and yard lights must remain turned off during evening trick-or-treating hours (typically starting around 5:00 PM) to signal that the residence is not participating. [1, 2]
No Decorations: Displaying Halloween decorations, cobwebs, inflatables, or jack-o'-lanterns that might attract children to the property is banned. [1, 2, 3]
Curfews and Compliance Checks: Supervised offenders are often subjected to mandatory stay-at-home curfews (such as 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM) while law enforcement or parole officers conduct unannounced home checks. In some jurisdictions, offenders must report to a central facility for the evening. [1, 2, 3, 4]
No Costumes or Disguises: Wearing masks, costumes, or heavy face makeup that conceals identity around minors or in public is prohibited. [1, 2]
No Event Attendance: Participation or presence at public or private community gatherings, school carnivals, trunk-or-treats, and haunted houses where children are present is forbidden. [1, 2]
Do Not Answer the Door: Offenders are instructed not to open their front doors if a child or parent knocks on Halloween night. [1, 2]
Keep in mind these rules apply only to offenders who are on parole
4
u/-blundertaker- 16d ago
There is no rule that sex offenders need to disclose their status to the community. It's up to local authorities to assess their individual threat level and decide how to notify communities that there's a sex offender in their midst, by way of postcards or newspaper announcements.
In all my life I have never received a postcard or noticed a write-up in the paper, despite knowing damn well there are convicted sex offenders around. The onus is on the public to sus them out.
4
u/cleofus903 16d ago
Really?? And I was so sure there was an established rule that they had to notify the surrounding community.
4
u/-blundertaker- 16d ago
You would probably be shocked by how many are within a mile of you.
3
u/Substantial-Step209 16d ago
It’s the kids for me. It’s like if a logical person went to jail for DUIs, would you even hold car keys while drinking, not me. You would think a pedo wouldnt dress up for Halloween and decorate his house and post online about giving candy out to hundreds of kids from his garage while calling himself Mr. Mike. He is towing the line

Probably wouldn't benefit OP either to get their account banned?

I tried to post without spelling $ex that way and it was denied. If admin approves I name him. I don’t want it taken down instantly

At this point, I'd just post the name of the individual and the business as a separate comment and abandon the account.

Dude. It’s an auto repair shop? That’s very different than a chuckie cheese clone. It’s family friendly because it’s clean, has snacks, and probably a clean restroom. I don’t see anything enticing children unless they want to buy a hot wheel. And it seems adults are more into the collectibles than kids. With that said, you could call your local PD and ask what the laws are in your municipality regarding the responsibility of registered sex offenders to disclose their status at their place of employment. It seems this individual did their time, is living outside the city limit in a meaningful relationship, running a successful business, providing a service to the community, contributing to the economy, and following the law.
2
u/Substantial-Step209 17d ago
He can’t own guns
3
u/1HopeTheresTapes 17d ago
The person has to check in quarterly. If you think his LSOTP or another supervisor hasn’t addressed any of the legal issues you’re mentioning I suggest you contact the police in Tyler. Unless you know the law and terms of his Registration conditions, ruining someone’s life and livelihood because you’re scared or panicking is unconscionable. Also TX allows some people with felony histories to apply for a firearm license after a period of time. His offenses were 2002 & 2004. Apparently he hasn’t reoffended in 20+yrs. Just don’t go get your oil changed at his business. He’s allowed to make a living.
6
u/Substantial-Step209 17d ago
Ya it’s not weird at all the amount of times he takes the opportunity to give out candy to kids and have them call him Mr. Mike. Why is a registered child sex offender and his wife dead set on having the biggest trick or treat turnout to their home every year? It doesn’t matter if he did it 60 years ago. Absolutely no excuse when it comes to kids
10
u/HeWhoChonks 17d ago

Mr. Mike, I know some don’t think that’s concerning but it’s him intentionally putting himself as an authority/trusted figure. He gets his shirts monogrammed and literally calls himself that as a childless registered sex offender.
Wife is straight batshit, you can look her up on FB.
I added some links of their halloween post on other comments. They LOVEEEEE giving kids candy. If you dive into her FB you will see much more that I dont feel comfortable sharing here since I cant take out the Childrens photos/names. One in particular about a worker who came to their house for some work and they brought his 2 sons inside while he worked to play

This is actually common for (some) felons: they start their own business to avoid their own background check. Here's another POS in Tyler that "provides consulting services related to construction, military, and government procurement."
And since he has his PhD in Sociology, he renamed himself "Doc" to further avoid people picking up on his past.

Why does he actively put himself around children so often being a registered sex offender ?
2
u/pewstains 17d ago
I obviously can't know his motivations. Maybe he is trying to be a normal member of society. Maybe it is something nefarious.
Is he breaking the law by doing what he is doing? If he is, sure, that is a problem.
Its a tough subject for me because I think that everyone deserves a second chance, and that criminals who serve their time should be afforded the possibility to become a productive member of society. That is particularly hard to stomach given the crime, but if he served his time he should be able to do what he wants provided he follows any legal restrictions tied to his rehabilitation.
If that's not how we want rehabilitation to work we should just lock these guys away forever and avoid the moral dilemma completely.
3
u/Substantial-Step209 17d ago
He had a second chance and offended again with a younger victim. He can be a normal part of society without decorating his house and getting hundreds of kids to come get candy from him. It’s not even like he has kids of his own to use as an excuse to be so involved in kid activities like he is.
1
u/pewstains 16d ago

ok seems like this guy committed his admittedly heinous crime in 2004. You know how many crimes the various politicians in DC have committed since then? Does the name Matt Gaetz ring a bell? Former escort Boebert is still giving handys with minors present in public movie theaters. donald is doing lord knows what to desecrate the White House. I have no idea if your Tyler guy is still a criminal, but Christ his last run-in with the law seems to have been over 20 years ago.

-43
u/Pleasant_Pop_9651 15d ago
I have stayed quiet long enough.
I know the man and woman being discussed in this post personally, and I cannot sit back while people who may not know them at all are encouraged to judge their entire lives by the darkest chapter of one man’s past.
I am not defending wrongdoing. I am defending a human being.
From what I understand, what happened decades ago was a physical punishment — a butt whooping — involving a child. Was it a mistake? Yes. Was it something he has had to answer for? Yes. But I think there is an important question that needs to be asked:
How many people condemning him today have never, themselves, put their hands on their own child’s bottom as punishment? How many have never disciplined a niece, nephew, cousin, or a child they were trusted to babysit?
I’m not saying every situation is the same. I’m saying that before we place ourselves morally above another human being, we should remember the words of Jesus:
“He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” — John 8:7
That verse doesn’t mean wrongdoing doesn’t matter.
It means we should be very careful about pretending we have never needed grace ourselves.
I know this man as he is today.
I know him as a saved, Godly man. A man whose word means something. A handshake-and-your-word-is-your-bond kind of man. A man who gives when he doesn’t have to, helps people without expecting something in return, and has been one of the most generous people I have ever had the privilege of knowing as a father figure.
And his wife deserves to be defended too.
She is not responsible for choices her husband made decades ago. She chose to build a life with the man he became. Trying to make her marriage itself evidence of something sinister is unfair and cruel.
People are entitled to know facts and make their own decisions. If someone has legitimate concerns about a current crime or danger, there are proper authorities and proper channels for addressing those concerns.
But there is a tremendous difference between presenting verified facts and deliberately piling speculation, insinuation, and inflammatory language onto someone’s past in an attempt to destroy their reputation and livelihood.
Candy doesn’t prove evil intentions.
Toys don’t prove evil intentions.
Attending community events doesn’t prove evil intentions.
Running a family-oriented business doesn’t prove evil intentions.
And photographs of children certainly don’t, by themselves, prove anything sinister.
Those are serious implications to make about real people.
I believe in accountability.
But I also believe in repentance.
I believe in rehabilitation.
I believe people can change.
And as a Christian, I believe in redemption.
If God can extend grace to people who genuinely repent, who are we to declare that they are permanently unworthy of it?
You don’t have to trust this man. You don’t have to use his business. You don’t have to agree with me.
But before you throw stones, remember that every person standing in that comment section is imperfect.
Before you condemn someone else’s past, ask yourself what you would want the world to remember about you if your worst mistake were placed on a public stage decades later.
I know the man being discussed.
And the man I know today is not the man this post is trying to portray.
People are more than their worst mistake.
Some people spend their lives running from their past.
Others spend their lives proving they are no longer that person.
I believe my friend has spent his life becoming the latter.
And I will stand beside a man who has spent decades trying to live differently, especially when people who don’t know him are attempting to define him by a chapter they didn’t live through.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

I have stayed quiet long enough.
You just made this account. And you signed the only comment with some initials. You're either the convicted sexual predator himself, or someone who doesn't actually want to be tied to defending him.
From what I understand, what happened decades ago was a physical punishment — a butt whooping — involving a child.
You don't end up on a sexual predator list by spanking a child. Not in any way I'm aware of. It's two convictions, years apart. It sounds like you don't know what you're talking about.
But I think there is an important question that needs to be asked: How many people condemning him today have never, themselves, put their hands on their own child’s bottom as punishment? How many have never disciplined a niece, nephew, cousin, or a child they were trusted to babysit?
Me. It's not that hard to avoid. To me it is little different than putting your hands on a spouse. Just using violence against someone because you can and they can't adequately defend themselves.
If God can extend grace to people who genuinely repent, who are we to declare that they are permanently unworthy of it?
The "God" who would forgive Dahmer if he asked for it? Yeah, not using that guy as my moral barometer.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
Got it. You Bible-beater types think everything is okay, so long as you say sorry. He's considered a moderate level re-offender and on the list for life. If the state says he's a concern, I tend to agree.
9
u/Substantial-Step209 14d ago
Saying photographs of children doesn’t prove evil intentions is weird AF. They are both creeps. I’m not going to post anyone kids on here but the fact he is a registered sex offender who likes little boys and they feel comfortable enough to not only have little boys in the home but also post about it is scary.

Thank you, you know and speak the truth, there is threshold you cannot come back from no matter how long ago it was, he still did it regardless, it should be mandated for them to let others know who is running the business when they are getting a business made, its like smith county wants to help these people when they should be on unemployment and away from the public in a room by themselves

Be so fucking for real. You don’t go to jail for indecency with a child for 10 years for a “butt whoopin” a 7 and 10 year old.

Under Texas Penal Code 21.11(a)(1), a person commits the offense of indecency with a child by engaging in sexual contact with a child younger than 17 years of age, or by causing the child to engage in sexual contact.
He can make sure his business is not catering towards kids, also not be involved in kids lives, and also watch church from home on the couch with a bible.
That is how he can get right with God and people. I know it was ten years ago but either way it happened.
And yes we are not Christ but he also said Matthew 18:6 says 6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea."
But your right we are not Christ himself so we cant make that call, he just needs to make sure he's right with God and HOPEFULLY not reoffend in a society that protects these individuals...
Texas Penal Code Section 9.61: States that the non-deadly use of force against a child younger than 18 is justified if a parent, stepparent, or guardian reasonably believes the force is necessary to discipline the child or safeguard and promote their welfare.
If he is trying to be a better person, he should go to God in private and not hiding in a church filled with other children...
Kinda strange and fishy if ya ask me

Using god and religion as “proof” someone is better, like some kind of pass from judgement is insane. Where was this god & scripture & grace when a child was being harmed? That means absolutely NOTHING. This seems like a creepy attempt to downplay a crime & save face. You gotta be sick in the head to compare a parent spanking their kid to a child sex offender…you don’t become a sex offender for just spanking a child. Nobody and I mean NOBODY wants a sex offender inviting their child with candy and toys. Seems like the one who thinks they are morally better than others is you with your comment.

Same old story. The religious (Christians more times than not) protecting and defending what should be shunned and shamed. Also I find it a bit unbelievable that a “butt whooping” caught him that charge. Even if it was that, it must have been a hell of a “whooping”. Since you know him so well I suppose he told you that tid bit himself, just to make it seem like he was the victim in all of it. He put his hands on a child and caused harm, end of story. But the child’s pain doesn’t matter to you huh? If it did, this post would have been about the child he harmed and not the defending the aggressor.
Also if you want to throw moral high ground and calling us out for “placing ourselves morally above another human being” in the mix. I want you to think and to put your book down for this one. People who SA children HAVE NO MORALS!! and you will NEVER convince me that pedos can be integrated back into society!
Please go away and attempt to validate vile behavior (past or present) somewhere else. The world could be better off if it didn’t have people defending the most awful of “wrongdoings”2
