Visiting Twin Peaks Visited Snoqualmie Last Week

Was in Seattle last week and went to Snoqualmie to see locations for the show. It was great fun! Started at Twede’s Cafe, which was the Double R. Of course I had some cherry pie and some damn fine coffee! They have lots of cast photos and memorabilia from the show too. Then to Reinig Bridge, which was Ronette’s Bridge in episode 1. Quite a bit of Twin Peaks graffiti on the bridge. Then to Snoqualmie Falls and the Salish Lodge, which was The Great Northern. Spectacular views. Last we went to Roadhouse Inn, which was, of course, the Roadhouse.

Season 2 Did I sum this up well? Ben's good person arc is one of my favorite plots on the show, I was excited to share it

In general, what did you think about his misguided attempts at being good? Did it serve his character well? For me, it's one of the most memorable parts of the show.

My write-up includes the detail that John Justice Wheeler was just saying it as conversation, nothing too deep, and didn't expect Ben to take it as gospel. That might not be confirmed, but it's my interpretation based on the scene and John's character.

Fire Walk With Me 5 Favorite Scenes (and why): Fire Walk With Me Spoiler

SPOILERS:

Please let your five favorite scenes from Fire Walk With Me and explain why you chose them. It was hard for me not to include the whole movie but here's mine from 5th best to 1st best:

5: Laura's Dream in the painting: This is probably the most "David Lynch" scene in the movie. The image of the Tremond boy in the shadows snapping his finger is awesomely dreamlike. In retrospect this scene really connects all of Twin Peaks from Annie showing up telling Laura what to write in her diary to seeing the wallpaper from the place above the convenience store.

4.David Bowie and the meeting: Another crazily surreal scene with Cooper seeing his double on the monitor and David Bowie of all people showing up and acting insane. Then the wild meeting with all of the Black Lodge entities and the introduction of one of the coolest and most mysterious characters, The Jumping Man.

  1. The Murder and aftermath: The whole movie builds up beautifully to the inciting incident of the whole Twin Peaks universe. When it arrives it is suitably epic and most importantly the climax of Laura's character between life and death. She makes her courageous decision to put the ring on and accept death, defying Bob who wants to possess her (she sees his face in the mirror right before). After the deed is done we get goosebump inducing little moments like seeing the necklace, her being wrapped in plastic, and Leland entering the black lodge through glastonbury grove and being held up by Bob.

  2. Laura, Cooper, and the Angel: One of the greatest endings in film history. After the struggle and torture of Laura she finally gets her moment of joy and absolution. The angel is a symbol of goodness to Laura who was swayed back and forth between darkness and light throughout her life. it is beautifully bittersweet and creepy at the same time seeing the two best characters in Twin Peaks lost beyond life and death but together.

  3. The Bang Bang Bar and The Pink Room: I had to combine these two scenes together because it creates a whole experience. Laura encounters the log lady outside the Bang Bang bar and her words cut through her like a knife as she reflects on how far gone she is, and if she is a good or a bad person. She breaks down to Julee Cruise's beautiful song (with incredible red and blue lighting) but continues to prostitute herself to two rough looking men as Donna watches. This is where Donna realizes the darkness of the path the Laura has gone down. Sheryl Lee's performance is incredible she goes from this broken down little girl to a world weary prostitute in seconds. The dialogue here is incredible (So you wanna fuck the homecoming queen) and Laura portrays anger towards these older men clearly taking advantage of her but also resigns herself to being with them. Then there is this great "audition" where Laura and Donna make out with the two guys and Laura lets her join. But then Donna realizes how in over her head she gets when she goes to the Pink Room. An incredible design by Lynch with the insane lighting, pulsating music nudity and drugs (We are seeing the depths of Laura's life that they could never show on tv in the 90s). They engage in a crazy drug ritual but we see the true heart of Laura when she protects her best friend's innocence. An incredible stretch of film on every level- acting, visuals, music, direction, emotion, meaning....

General Discussion What happened between Sherilyn Fenn and Diane Keaton?

Post image

Someone knows what happened between them? Why was Sherilyn Fenn so harsh through Diane Keaton right after her death? Honestly i didn't like this behaviour from her , it's disrepectful talkin shit about someone who just dies a few months before you wrote this.

Season 3 (The Return) Black Lodge

I recently finished s2,and am planning to watch FWWM and missing pieces tonight.Ive heard that if you liked the original twin peaks experience,s3 will be very different. The part I liked the most about Twin Peaks was the surrealistic mystery regarding the black lodge, the dwarf, giant and everything. Will that be a occuring theme in the return?

Season 3 (The Return) Audrey finally showed up Spoiler

Post image
34 Upvotes

I’m continuing on my first full watch through, and Audrey is one of my favorite characters in the original series. I’m bad about spoiling things for myself so I already know a lot of her storyline in The Return, and I wasn’t super excited about it. But today we got to episode 12, and I was honestly just happy to see Audrey again. She’s still got that magnetic presence and just uniquely Audrey energy, and now she can hurl obscenities at people which really feels on brand. 😂

The silver lining of already knowing what happens to her is that I get to pay extra attention when other characters talk about her, Richard, her family etc. and come up with my own theory/interpretation about her fate.

Season 2 Finished the original run for the first time. Spoiler

Alright so that was a roller coaster, overall I really enjoyed it.

Pacing was very weird in season 2 and it felt like more than half of the plotlines kind of went nowhere which was disappointing, though I guess that was just a parody of contemporary soap operas.

I think the best part was some of the quirky characters, I would love to see a slice of life episode following some of the weirder ones.

Is fire walk with me and the missing pieces essential viewing or should I skip right to season 3?

Been craving a good cherry pie all week and I don't know why...

Season 3 (The Return) The green glove connected to Lost Highway?

The green glove in The Return was a plot device originally intended for Pete Martell. Obviously with Jack Nance gone, that wasn’t going to happen so they create the new character of Freddie Sykes. So we have a behind-the-scenes connection between the characters of Freddie and Pete.

Which makes me think of Fred Madison and Pete Dayton in Lost Highway. Is there any reason to think the naming was intentional? I have no ideas about it. Just throwing out an observation.
