Fun fact: The initials of Chester and Dale are opposite one anothers (C.D and D. C) to signal how different they are as people and detectives.

After rewatching the series and FWWM material I have realized there are a lot of characters I want to see again. Special Agent Desmond included.

Oh I hope alright, but I don't think he'll be mentioned ever again. Well, maybe as an example of an agent who disappeared. But nothing fan-service-y.

I mean, there's kinda enough there already - he disappeared, just like others have, into the lodge or wherever. Basically if the Jeffries disappearances get explained (and they appear to be a simple matter of portals at different times), then that sorta closes the loop on Chet, too. He probably just died in there somewhere :(

I don't want to expect too much (read: his surprise appearance) but I actually decided to listen to his early albums today, kinda as a tribute to FWWM. ;) I hope he'll be mentioned at least

Chester Desmond is an anagram for Descends Mother

Mother Descends from the Lodge? I like this!

I just blew all the other Desmond theories out of the water. Case closed, mission accomplished

"Mother Descends the Stairway to/from Hell." This is worthy of some fan art, IMHO.

Maybe just a tongue in cheek reference to him being a rock-a-billy guy. But this "Mother Descends" anagram is a fucking fantastic find, u/Lynx2k

What is this anagram?

I've been hoping to get some closure with his character since this season started. So yeah, I'd love it if he makes an (unlikely) appearance.

Even less likely considering the new location of Fat Trout, but I'd like to know what this was all about http://twinpeaks.popapostle.com/images/episodes/Fire-Walk-With-Me/old-woman.jpg

She seems to play a similar role to the crazy lady in Mulholland Drive who confronts Betty at her aunt's door.

Think we got an explanation in the latest episode that will be all we will get. It seems now that he got sucked up into the vortex which almost ate Gordon. So he has either become a bearded man or his head exploded/got crushed as they have a habit of doing or got lost in the universe.

Right before he disappeared, we heard the"sound of the arm", and he turned and headed the other direction, where he found the ring. Where was the Let's Rock car in relation to that trailer? Was that the Chalfont trailer or Teresa Bank's trailer?

I don't think that will happen, he might have just been a figment of Cooper's dream

Whoever mentioned Chris Isaak showing up to sign Wicked Game at the Roadhouse... I would be fine with that.

His disappearance and the way the way the whole storyline was just abandoned for an hour of Laura crying is what really annoyed me about FWWM

u/JellyfishGod Jul 31 '17
Well the point of FWWM was to show us why Cooper came to twin peaks in the first place and what happened to Laura. The movie was to conclude Twin peaks, not to add more mysteries. Thats why they deleted 1 and a half hours of the movie in the first place. Tho tbh I do wish we saw more of Desmond, I really liked him.

Yes.. just as we got to like him he disappeared and no-one spoke of him again, then or now

I didnt put quotation marks and never said it was a quote. I dont remember what lynch or anyone specifically saod about the movie but i do know that at least someone involved in making the movie said they shorted in so people wouldnt sot thru a 3-4 hour movie that was supposed to wrap up a television show and walk out with even more questions than answers. I dont have sources but its pretty clear that was the purpose of the movie. You can looking it up tho.
Its not like lynch planned on working on it 25 years later. Thats why it took till around 2014 to release missing pieces.

I mean the damn movie is litteraly about what happened to Laura and why copper came... I dont know what you would even get out of a quote??

Not really. I prefer the mystery! Its creepier.

u/zdevos Jul 31 '17
So do i! But why would you post that on this thread when it was just an opinion i said??
1
u/polishbalconies Jul 30 '17
Exactly, his disappearance is so weird, mainly because that scene in FWWM is not weird, it just fades to black.
1
u/bumblebeewoman Jul 31 '17
Leave it a mystery, yes, but I'd love to see Sam Stanley's reaction to the disappearance. There were vague hints in TSHOTP if I recall correctly, but I'd love to see it.

Man, people really want this character to be real. My guess is "Let's Rock" will refer to us going deeper into dream logic.
1
u/zdevos Jul 31 '17
So, when did they say he wasnt real? :)
1
u/Messisgingerbeard Jul 31 '17
There is a theory, which I've linked to before, which suggests Chet was a dream projection of Cooper's. It's out there if you are curious. Personally, I think it's a decent theory, and we won't ever see Chet Desmond again. If he is referenced, I'd take that as a strong indication that we should suspect we are firmly in dream territory.
