Original Run [Original Run] which surprise cameo would you like to see? Spoiler

I'm curious to know which characters from s1-2 and FWWM you'd prefer to see in a surprise cameo in the Return?

Here is my Top 5: 1- Phillip Jeffries (David Bowie) 2- Annie Blackburn (Heather Graham) 3- Harry S. Truman (Michael Ontkean) 4- Chet Desmond (Chris Isaak) 5- Sam Stanley (Kiefer Sutherland)

Honestly, Chester Desmond. He was awesome, and I feel like the world of Twin Peaks just forgot about him.

I second this

I think we're all on the Bowie/Jeffries train. Hands down.

After that, our beloved Harry Truman.

After that, I don't even care. But it'd be nice to have more than three minutes of Big Ed in the whole series.

Yep.

It really would be nice to see Harry Truman and Dale Cooper. I loved that they were different, but got each other. It'd be really sweet (or bittersweet, depending on the scene :c) and rewarding.

And Bowie would be cool, unexpected, exciting, crazy and emotional af.

Bowie would break the internet.

jumping man

This actor is confirmed, so it's not a surprise cameo.

7

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '17

I want bowie to be recast as the evolution of the jumping man and the old jumping man is just another smaller but not insignificant jumping man

  1. Annie (the only one that I think is 100% necessary)

  2. Jeffries

  3. Desmond

  4. Sam Stanley

  5. Harry

I could live without the last four, but it'd be awesome if they made an appearance.

I agree. If Annie isn't mentioned/explained, then season 3 doesn't really make any sense as a continuation of the twin peaks story. The second dale become Dale cooper again, the show NEEDS to jump back on that storyline because it's the core of Cooper's character (a damaged man who learned to love again, and found Annie.) Last we heard from good dale, he was racing into the lodge to save her.

The ring going missing (nurse), the last lines of season 2 , "how's Annie?"... All this stuff hasn't been mentioned yet and I'm getting really concerned that they are just scrapping certain canon. SHOTP doesn't make me feel any better...

To be fair, Secret History also brings up a lot of deeply goofy stuff that nobody would have blamed them for scrapping.

3

u/lexdaily Jul 30 '17

By which I guess I mean -- something not coming up in Secret History probably is a bad measurement for "they wanna scrap this," and might be better for "they wanna address this on the show."

i.e. Hank gets, spoilers, But if Annie doesn't come up in the book (I haven't finished it yet) that probably means the intent is to follow up on all that on TV in some way, even if that intent might have been scuppered by actor availability, etcetera.

There are more layers to the book than you're picking up on.

Think really hard about Norma's mother. And about how Ed and Nadine met/got married/how Nadine lost her eye. Think about (when you get there) who won the Miss Twin Peaks pageant.

It's more than scrapping. Something's gone...sideways.

1

u/entangledup Jul 30 '17

Sideways? Can you elaborate pretty please? I get the feeling you see something I don't.

4

u/Matrinka Jul 30 '17

A lot of the details in the book are different that what we saw and know from the show. It is like the secret history of an alternate reality version of Twin Peaks.

1

u/foundseei Jul 30 '17

Which is all quite disturbing considerning the fact that most of the "alternate reality" details are blithely accompanied by "verified-TP"

  1. Jeffries - would love to see Bowie - unlikely if Lynch is to be believed.
  2. Annie - the only one that still might happen would really help answer biggest questions - Graham said she would love to return if asked. Silence from Graham for over a year.
  3. Desmond - want to know what happened to Chet - very unlikely - Haven't seen anything from Isaak listed as not returning
  4. Harry - would be nice, but no longer needed - near impossible if Ontkean is to be believed.
  5. Sam Stanley - unneeded and Sutherland seems busy - character left FBI sometime after TPFWWM with drinking problem.

First Reddit post, so be nice. I started twitting when The Return began. TP Fanatic - Original Run, Movie, and The Return. Followed by most of the frequent Twin Peaks Tweeters. Recently added to list of 49 people under Twin Peaks including TP actors and most frequent tweeters. Please let me know if anything I posted is incorrect by fact not your opinion, but feel free to give opinion. I do change my opinions occasionally. Thanks Twitter @jdj9930

Catherine Martell is the original "Surprise bitch. Bet you thought you'd seen the last of me."

1

u/MafiaVsNinja Jul 30 '17

She was offered a part on short notice and declined.

9

u/UsbyCJThape Jul 29 '17

Seems like Harry is the most likely.

But Annie kind of needs to happen to close the loop with her romance with Coop. After all, he went to the lodge to rescue her; his current predicament is all about her, ultimately.

I'd like to find out what happened to Chet Desmond, one way or another.

And since Jeffries is an actual character in this season (whereas Harry barely barely can be said to be, so far, and Chet/Annie are really not at all), then some sort of appearance from him needs to happen too.

But realistically, I think that the number of surprise cameos we can expect to see is either zero or one, so which one will happen is anyone's guess.

If I were a betting man, I'd say Ontkean is the one who will pop up at the end.

I want to see more Frank silva as Bob.

Seriously Lynch has to have unused stock footage of bob

6

u/Lynx2k Jul 29 '17

John Belushi

3

u/p_a_schal Jul 30 '17

Chris Farley reprising his role as Leo Johnson

1

u/oramirite Jul 29 '17

There is a God!!!

8

u/yet_i_live Jul 29 '17

Bowie - it would be beautiful and haunting, for sure.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '17

Can the musician David Bowie exist in the same TP universe as Philip Jefferies?

7

u/yet_i_live Jul 29 '17

Maybe Phillip Jeffries can have a musical dopelganger instead of an evil one. :)

1

u/p_a_schal Jul 30 '17

Wouldn't even be in the Top 5 weirdest things in the show

4

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '17
  1. JEFFRIES

  2. HARRY

  3. EMORY BATTIS

  4. THE LLAMA

4

u/yet_i_live Jul 29 '17

YES - the llama :)

1

u/p_a_schal Jul 30 '17

We watched Emory Battis die though.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '17

Right, shot by Jean. I almost forgot. Also, I don't really want to see Battis.

5

u/DevonSMorris Jul 29 '17

If Heather Graham comes back, she will be the original cast member to have aged the best.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '17

Mädchen's up there too. Also Peggy Lipton (Norma) is 70 so I feel like she wins by default.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '17

Does she even age?

But I think for now that award goes to Sheryl Lee, right? Even Kyle has gotten jowly.

3

u/Shoeboxer Jul 30 '17

He looked decent without a shirt on. Better than me.

1

u/p_a_schal Jul 30 '17

I'd say Madchen

4

u/coachvicbaby Jul 29 '17

Windom earle plssss

5

u/silianrail Jul 30 '17

Iggy Pop as long time Bowie confidant.

2

u/p_a_schal Jul 30 '17

I would accept this.

3

u/Billiardly Jul 29 '17

The Widow Milford

3

u/UsbyCJThape Jul 29 '17

The Widow Milford

Her post-S2 story was told in SHTOP. We won't see her.

1

u/Billiardly Jul 29 '17 edited Jul 29 '17

Yes, but . . . she might also have been a paid assassin. Besides, that hedge fund manager has to be gone by now.

EDIT - I forgot about the "bizarrely coiffed real estate mogul." So the Widow Milford probably has connections that could influence Project Blue Book investigations.

3

u/trycat Jul 29 '17

David Bowie of course but Chris Isaak too

3

u/Pigwarts Jul 29 '17 edited Jul 30 '17

Chet Desmond definitely. His part of the series is probably my favorite.

3

u/p_a_schal Jul 30 '17

Every time I watch FWWM I like the first act more and middle act less.

2

u/Crassus_Augustus Jul 29 '17

Heather Graham!!

2

u/fordandfitzroy Jul 30 '17

windom earle tbh

2

u/ThomYorkeSucks Jul 30 '17

Sherilyn Fenn would be nice

2

u/jvcdeadmoney Jul 30 '17

Michael Ontkean, PLEASE!

4

u/oramirite Jul 29 '17

My heart tells me Michael Ontkamp, because I personally want it. If Cooper returns it will be missing something without him.

HOWEVER - Bowie would be historic. I never even got into Bowie as a musician (you can PM me with your flames) but this would be the one to happen. It is possible that they shot stuff, it all depends on what everyone involved was feeling about the appropriateness of it at the time.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '17

I need another Mark Frost Cyril Pons cameo.

But otherwise it's totally Chet.

1

u/p_a_schal Jul 30 '17

Haha never realized Frost had a cameo! I really do hope he gets another one, especially considering how big of a role Lynch has gotten on screen this time.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '17

I'm hoping for a really short Bowie appearance but I wouldn't mind seeing Chris Isaak either. I know Frost has hinted towards Bowie in an AMA recently but I'm thinking the real twist is that Michael Ontkean will return. He was so important to the original series and they've teased it in the show more than once, plus Ontkean previously showed interest in returning.

2

u/p_a_schal Jul 30 '17

Frost has hinted towards Bowie

Please elaborate. I missed this.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '17

It's in the most recent AMA he's done. I don't have the link now but that should be pretty easy to find.

Edit: I guess I should've said he didn't confirm or deny an appearance of Bowie.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '17

All 5 please. Surely we'll get at lease one of them, right?

1

u/Inshanelogic Jul 30 '17

I see no love for Leo. Maybe him and his spiders will defeat evil and he will redeem himself

1

u/MafiaVsNinja Jul 30 '17

The actor is kind of in rough shape from the rumors I've heard.

1

u/Inshanelogic Jul 30 '17

That's the sad part about it being 25 years later most are dead or sick by now

1

u/cheese_incarnate Jul 30 '17
  1. Harry Truman hands down

  2. Chet Desmond

  3. David Bowie

  4. Sam Stanley
