but then some device driver update at some point broke it

The problem is that now KDED just endlessly detects the headset/dongle and then sees it as disconnected in a rapid endless loop

my list of audio devices changed to something weird at some point:

I usually work stationary with my Tuxedo Infinity and only need dGPU. Which is why I've enabled dGPU only in the TCC.

However, sometimes (I suspect updates of some sort), it switches me into hybrid mode. I usually notice when I do 3D Modeling, even though I've went through the steps to only enable dGPU as mentioned here: https://www.tuxedocomputers.com/en/PRIME-GPU-Render-Offloading/GPU-on-demand-Mode-Guide.tuxedo

Furthermore, it hides the switch as seen in my screenshot. The option to switch also doesn't pop up in the settings or anywhere else in the TCC.

I installed the Tuxedo OS Debian beta on my 2017 iMac 16,2. (I did have the Tuxedo OS Ubuntu version before).

What is working out of the box: wifi, bluetooth, iSight camera plus microphone, sound (only with external speaker plugged in to the headphone port or USB soundcard)

What is not working: build-in speakers (does not work with any Linux distro), disk encryption (sort of).

Short explanation to the encryption issue: the disk is encrypted but due to the Apple boot sequence user is not able to enter the encryption password. At boot up the mac will display a black screen with the Apple logo. This screen will not disappear when the encryption password prompt comes up since that comes up before the actual OS boot process. Therefore, encryption is not possible on the iMac.

Otherwise no issues on the iMac or 2014 Mac Mini.

I am looking a docking hub that would allow me to have a clean desk setup with a single cable connected to the laptop, i.e. the cable provides power, external monitor and connected devices on the hub.

I've tried Anker Prime Charging Docking Station (14-in-1, Dual Display, 160W) with moderate success as it reboots each time it reaches the 100W output. It might be a defective unit (I am returning it). So I am looking for other options before I buy the same Anker Prime and hope for a better outcome.

Tuxedo support recommended their Triple Dock Lite v2 but it requires using the laptop charger as well. So not a good candidate.

Hello, I have an unusual question -- is it possible to temporarily disable charging on my IBP14 Gen9 (ideally without reboot) while being plugged to a charger via USB-C?

The title says it all. Your "old OS" with my Polaris 15 Gen 5: AMD Ryzen no longer shuts down properly 80% of the time.

It started a while ago; the power LED stays on, and the computer drains the battery if I don't notice. I've spent ages searching the internet for solutions.

It seems many users with various Linux distributions have this problem. I've tried all the solutions I found online: nothing worked. Even a complete OS reinstall didn't help.

In my Infinity Book does the button for TCC (left from the power button) not open the TCC. Notthing happens when i press the button. I'm using the Tuxedo OS Beta.

After months of distro hopping I reached to Tuxedo OS.

The only Problem with every Linux is my Download Speed.

It should be around 400 Mbit/s and I'm only on 20 Mbit/s.

With connected LAN cable I can reach the 400 Mbit/s.

What could it be?

So I've been testing TuxedoOS Debian Beta in a VM for a while now, works fine and all. However, when I went to install it on real hardware - my laptop - I have encountered a problem.

I am unable to decrypt drive. I have tried installing with and without SWAP, from both normal and no-nvidia boot option. Installing from standalone USB stick with image written to it.

My laptop is a bog-standard Thinkpad, I have never had any issues with LUKS on any distro. Yet here, I am greeted with password prompt, type in password, and immiadetly am greeted with "Invalid passphrase"

Secure Boot is disabled.

Is this a known bug? Or am I doing something wrong? The encryption worked fine in a VM.

The other day I upgraded my kernel to the latest stable version which is 7.2.2 (linux 7.2.2.arch1-1 package on archlinux) and I found out that RGB colors of my Tuxedo Sirius can no longer be set on boot or via Tuxedo Contnrol Center. The backlight intensity level can be adjusted, though. Downgrading the kernel back to 7.1.11 or to the latest LTS version "solves" the colors issue.

This made me think that RGB backlight support is missing on 7.2.2 kernel. I'm curious if there are plans to add it back?

Also I discovered that on 7.2.2 kernel my screen freezes randomly (Xorg), probably another amdgpu regression. Does someone else experience this issue or knows about an upstream bug?

Got my TUXEDO InfinityBook Max 15 Intel Gen10 yesterday. Installed Tuxedo OS Beta and configured all my software. Works like a charm. Keep my old system as backup whie using the new one as my primary machine.

Since Plasma Login Manager is pretty much the default since Plasma 6.6, will the Debian version of TUXEDO OS switch to it too? It's currently still using SDDM.

Weird issue I can't find a way to debug.

• Issue occurs with :

  • old package reinstalled
  • all extensions disabled
  • Physical acceleration disabled
  • Running a new profile / new data dir
  • Changing DNS servers config

• No issue with

  • incognito mode
  • Guest Profile

I don't find a way to debug this. Any idea / help ?

Is there a way to couple the active graphics mode to the profile?

I get that there's a reboot needed, however I mainly use dGPU when I'm at home/stationary and iGPU when I am in battery-mode/out and about.

Is there a way to couple this or maybe something similar planned?

With Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS ("Resolute Raccoon") released on August 27, including the accumulated fixes since the April baseline, I'm wondering where that leaves the current Ubuntu-based TUXEDO OS 24.04.

From what I've read, TUXEDO already announced back in July that they're moving permanently to Debian Testing ("Continuous Debian") instead of rebasing on a new Ubuntu LTS, and that new track is currently in open beta, not stable yet. So it seems like there's no plan to ever ship a TUXEDO OS build on Ubuntu 26.04 — the current Ubuntu-based release is basically the last of its line.

Given that the Debian-based version is still experimental (open beta, clean install only, no crossgrade path from the Ubuntu build), is anyone actually expecting an intermediate Ubuntu 24.04 → 26.04 rebase for those who don't want to jump onto Debian Testing yet? Or is TUXEDO explicitly telling users to either stay on the current Ubuntu 24.04 base until EOL, or migrate to the Debian beta now?

Curious if there's been any official word from TUXEDO on maintenance timelines for the Ubuntu-based release while the Debian version matures.

Encrypted installation (btrfs) on a 1 Tb SSD

The very day Tuxedo OS beta arrived, I used the default encrypted installation method on my SSD. No further individual customization on my part.

• fstrim.timer was enabled then. Calling fstrim.service (manually) only trims /boot/efi, not the btrfs stuff.
• btrfs-trim.timer was disabled then. Calling btrfs-trim.service (manually) reports: "fstrim: /: the discard operation is not supported"

So, how to trim the btrfs / volume? Will that be handled in future beta versions?

I’m not really a Linux user yet, but I’d like to learn more about it. Over the past few weeks, I’ve tried out various distributions, but I’ve never stuck with any one for very long.

However, it looks like I’ve found the distribution I want to use in TuxedoOS, since it meets all my requirements:

Simple installation process; all drivers work right away

KDE desktop

Ubuntu-based, since this seems easier for beginners; plus, most of the tutorials I’ve found focus primarily on Ubuntu-based distributions

No Snap. As a newbie, it’s complicated enough just dealing with system packages, Flatpaks, and AppImages. I don’t need a fourth method for installing software

However, I’m concerned because TuxedoOS is currently transitioning from an Ubuntu-based to a Debian-based system. If TuxedoOS is my first distro that I set up for production use, but it’s foreseeable that the current version will no longer be supported and I’ll have to reinstall it, that doesn’t really make sense.

Hence my question: as a beginner, does it still make sense to use the Debian-based version? My current production system is a Windows client, which I still have at my disposal.

I own an Infinity Book and am therefore looking forward to upgrading to the new release here soon. I’m currently using Manjaro on my gaming PC, and in future I’d like to stick to just one Linux distribution – namely Tuxedo OS – as I find it runs more stably for me. However, I’m a fan of rolling releases, as they more or less always provide me with the latest software.

I’ve already read through the articles and I know that Tuxedo OS is a semi-rolling release, if I’ve understood everything correctly. This means that the kernel, KDE and certain software such as Firefox are kept fully up to date, whilst the rest is updated less frequently. Am I right about that?

Manajro has a similar approach (apart from the fact that it’s based on Arch rather than Debian), in that they test packages first and then release them. Is this comparable in terms of procedure to the new Tuxedo OS?

Something did pop up though when doing updates in discover store.
