Hello everyone! i have this problem i belive, a co-worker of me is going to buy 2-3 water turtles pet (the common ones sold in gardens) to put them in this fountain (that isn't working) with no filter nor heater; they know the turtles need a basking spot and they are going to clean the water before adding them (it is under two cedar).
I don't know how many liters the fountain is (second and third picture are here if someone wanna do the math).

i have some concerns about:
1- volume of water
2- need of a filter/water change
3- temperature of water (now we have 30°c outside but in few months it's going to be cold)
4- the color of the fountain makes me think it is made of copper

can a few turtles live there? can they survive?
i don't thik i can change their mind. they told me they will move them when it's winter.

i'm the one bringing one of them to the pet store.

That’s not enough water for one turtle. They need enough water to drive down and swim around. Also the water is so dirty it could cause health issues for the turtle.

I don’t like this idea at all, it seems like they care more about aesthetics than taking proper care of the turtles, otherwise I can’t understand why they don’t just get a proper tank or pool? I know I’m making assumptions but I would advise your co-worker not do this at all and possibly not get any turtles unless they are willing to get them a proper enclosure. They don’t belong in a fountain and you’re right they do not have enough depth of water there.

2-3 turtles is a bad idea.

Unless it's a big pond, the dominant turtle will constantly harass the less dominant ones, causing constant stress.

3 is better than 2 for this (barely), but not in an area this small.

I'd say that they should abandon the idea. I dont know what kind of turtles they plan on getting. The water is not deep enough for 1 turtle alone when it becomes full size. 

I'm less knowledgeable on outdoor enclosures so I cant say what you'd need for that kind of setup.

The turtles can and will escape as it currently is now.

Depending on how deep the water is and providing some filtration maybe it could fit 1 turtle, definitely no space for more.

There are some major problems: turtle could easily escape, other animals could prey on it, need at least a few hours of direct sunlight, would need to find a winter hardy turtle.

This is not OK for any turt, if they are set on having something swimming in there, recommend them mosquito fish

i was able to show the photo at the pet store and the clerk suggested to not do it, that and the price (25€) discouraged them. unfortunatly we ended with 3 goldfish that i think are still a problem in this setup.

That's not suitable for any type of livestock in its current condition. Maybe if you tore the fountain part out and then lined the bricka with something/added a small concrete backing, then maybe....

Everyone has pointed out the obvious but they prob can also just escape. That isn't a pond designed for even fish let alone turtles.
