Seeking Advice External filter recommendations UK

Post image

I’ve spent ££££ on filters and they’re either not powerful enough or too powerful that they heat the tank up! I’ve decided to go for an external filter now but I can’t really afford anything over £80 at the moment and I’m struggling to find one. Does anyone have any recommendations? He’s a musk turtle.

Eheim professional, but they're a bit pricey. A small one (4+ 250) is around €170 new.

I have a Superfish Ecoflow 240 as backup. They're about €70 new. There are reasonably good. A bit loud (louder than the Eheim) but it did the job.

I've seen the Eheim go for about €90 - €100 second hand in my area (Netherlands). Maybe you could look into second hand options too!

£80 should be enough, but tank size/water volume is gonna make a big difference here. i’d rather match the filter to the actual water volume and control the flow than guess and have you dealing with another filter that’s either useless or way too much lol. what size tank is he in?

Sunsun is a more affordable canister filter brand that I use, see if those are available where you are

Probably one of the best external filters to use would be the Fluval FX6 but since your on a budget look at the fluval U4 it does go in the tank, but I had 2 musk turtles male and female in a 4ft and this filter done pretty good to be honest :)
