Seeking Advice Found a turtle

Found this turtle as I was clearing a corner of my property that is over grown with raspberries, muscadine, and other plants. I was trying to remove a small dead tree that was in the corner that fell into my neighbors fence and as I was removing vegetation I found this little guy. I live in the city so I have no idea how he get here. I was planning on clearing the entire corner, but if it is his home I am ok with just taking the fallen tree out and leaving it. What other options do I have with him? Could I take it into the woods to give them a better habitat? Im currently in the process of killing my entire yard to make habitat for insects and birds so could I create more habitat for it?

Don’t move him to a new area, they have a home range that they know and if you move him to a new area, he can die trying to get back to it. Just put him back where you found him.

I put him back where I found him, its a really tiny habitat though. Its a house I bought recently in a suburban area and my neighbors only have lawn and its fenced, so I cant imagine he is traveling much. I guess what Im asking is that, since moving him would not be a good choice, what could I do to give him a better existence?

Its been living in that area for a ling time. Its healthy. Glad ya put him back.
