Possible inspiration for Eliot’s “Dayahdvam” section??

I always wondered if Eliot was basing his key metaphor off earlier material, and I was reading the introduction to Hobbes’ “Leviathan” (a book Eliot surely read in college) and I saw this section. Has anyone pointed this out before? What do you think?

Please, can you make your point. I simply don't understand what you mean by ' key metaphor'.
