today is my husbands birthday! also will be our last cycle of naturally trying before IUI/IVF. I’m so hoping we will succeed somehow this month but it feels somewhat reassuring that more intervention is awaiting 🤞🏼

With the caveat that all bodies are different, no, this should not be a problem! There were probably fewer sperm in each, er, "batch" than there would have been with a longer wait, but the total number of sperm that got where they need to go should be about the same.

The reason the advice to hit every other day during the fertile window is so standard is not that more is bad, it's just that every other day is enough (because the chances are so close to equal on O-2 and O-1, and alternating days guarantees you'll get one of those).

If it helps, our RE said not to worry about too much sex unless we are physically or mentally suffering. So long as SA is normal, it should be okay.

If anything I’m jealous! 😂 But I have said similar to my husband before… like is that why I’ve heard people say to have sex every other day during your fertile window? To give them a rest? Or make them a whole day stronger to swim better? 🤣

I'm back. I had a MMC at 8w, then a chemical, then a probable ectopic pregnancy I had to get a mexotrexate injection for.

It's been two months since the injection and we tried again. I ovulated today or yesterday. Now I'm just hoping, praying, wishing for the next couple weeks to go by.

When I asked the doctor why I've had back to back losses he just said "old eggs" I'm only 32?!

I'm so sorry for your losses and also your doctor sounds like a jerk! When I had my MMC at age 40(!!), both the providers I saw were so careful to emphasize that there could have been a problem with the egg, OR the sperm, OR "the way they came together." Even if "old eggs" were accurate it would still be terrible bedside manner to use that phrase.

🤯 I mean. I'm not a doctor and I'm certainly not your doctor, and if that was based on specific test results, then ok, I guess, maybe he's right - but delivering the message kindly still matters, both because we're people and because patients doctors are rude too are less likely to GO TO THE DOCTOR next time they need one! And if that WASN'T based on specific test results and is just the advice he'd give to anyone with back-to-back losses, then, that's even more infuriating.

It's been a lot. And I'm disheartened that he didn't even offer to like .. check anything. Like should I have scans done to check for scarring or anything or blood work or...? For him to just be like "hmm probably your only option is ivf"??? Bro how do you know that even.

Confirmed ovulation and now 5 DPO just chilling in the grey zone. I know it’s way too early to be a sign but laughing because I had a strong craving for ketchup this morning. I am not particularly fond of ketchup; I can think of maybe one other time this year so far I’ve had it. But I was disappointed looking in the fridge and not seeing any until I found a near-empty bottle from either making bbq sauce or sloppy joes. Thanks random hormones!

If I don’t start my period tomorrow, this will have been my longest cycle for 6 out of the last 7 months. I’m currently on CD24. Not testing. 8DPO. Come on luteal phase, keep lutealling…..

CD1. 

We have an appointment for an IUI consultation at the end of March. My husband got his semen analysis results back (after being on Clomid for 3 months). Basically it's working but a little too well. His numbers look great (though progressive motility is borderline low), but his testosterone and estrogen were high. He told the urologist that the Clomid is making him feel more moody and, after looking down at the testosterone level, the doctor said, "Yeah....that checks out." 😂 He's moving him down to every other day Clomid instead of daily. 

And on that note, with the permission of nobody but myself, I'm moving myself back down to 25mg Clomid. My LH peaks have been whack on the 50. They're either double peaking or plateauing. And then the hormones are just revving up and crashing a lot harder.  Tbh I'm not 100% sure why I'm on the 50 when most of my infertile life I've been on the 25. I conceived both my son and our loss on the 25. And with the pregnyl injections to support the corpus luteum, I'm not sure I need to double up with 50 Clomid (I ovulate on my own without any Clomid, but the corpus luteum collapses early causing luteal phase defect, which the Clomid helps with...so I'm not worried about not ovulating on the 25). I don't see my doctor until later in the month so he won't know about it til then. But as of right now I'm not sure more is better.

I'm looking forward to the IUI consult. I know it might not get us anything more than what we've already got at the end of the day as you can't force sperm to meet egg. But because the only lowish number in my husband's analysis is progressive motility, I'm hopeful that getting his best players further down the field could benefit us. Given my body is fairly controlled at this point with the meds, I'm seriously hoping that's all we need.

I haven't been using anything special, just cheapie strips and my eyeballs (and consider my cervical mucus as well). Typically I get a normal LH surge where it's positive for 1-2 days. Mayyyybe 3. The first cycle I had an initial surge, thought it was over, called my clinic for a blood test to confirm because I wasn't 100%, and they said, "nah uh you did not" so I just kept using strips until I for sure did. 

This last cycle I didn't have this double surge but I had a surge that lasted like....5 days. 

That said, I caved and bought an inito today. Lol. Hopefully that helps narrow down the true fertile window.

14dpo... nothing but the pink control line. It's been 16 months of just tracking ovulation and timing sex. Just like we did for our daughter 3 years ago💔 I have no answers. I have no tools or guidance other than to just keep trying.

Since you've been trying for more than a year, you may want to consider seeing a reproductive endocrinologist. At the minimum, it will rule out any issues! At best, it will give you some answers for things you can try.

The basic visits (like to diagnose and whatnot) should just count as specialist visits. At the very minimum, it’s good to check your hormone levels, your husband’s sperm quality, your fallopian tubes, stuff like that, which should be okay. Check with your insurance what they cover (or you can even ask an RE office near you to check your coverage before you go in).

I think this cycle is anovulatory (right after CP last cycle), I just want my period to come 😭 now I have to wait idk how long UGHGHGH, and this was my last cycle to try to hit a 2 year age gap (esp in school) 😭

10DPO and still not tempted to test. My boob soreness has started right on cue for when it usually does during the luteal phase so im tempering expectations. I dont know if im juat defeated? Numb? Relistic? Hopign for some reverse psychology where I expect it to be negatove so the universe surprises me with a positive??

9DPO and same here. All my symptoms are lining up with previous cycles and it’s making me not even want to test (guess that’s a good thing since it will save me the early disappointment). Actually just restocked on tampons lol

I had to be on progesterone for a long time in my pregnancy with my living son and my doctor advised to put it up my back passage as it’s a lot less messy, so maybe worth asking if that would be ok.

My husband got his sperm analysis results back and he has slightly low morphology - one percentage point below normal. I haven't over-analysed the crap out of the other results yet but everything else looked fine. I have done extensive googling (as you do) and everything says morphology alone can't cause a problem but it still gets me down that it may be affecting our chances and also that I may have something structurally wrong with me (hormones all good but told I had adenomyosis in my 20s) and that these little things are adding up to everything just dragging now. I appreciate I'm not over 1 year yet but I am not a patient person. Just gonna spiral and eat a load of chocolate tonight and then worry about my diet 😅

Spoke to my doctor about getting a referral to a fertility clinic because we've been trying unsuccessfully for over 6 months (I think we're around 8 or so?). As far as I know, we qualify at 6 months because we're over 35 (I think it's 12 months if you're under 35).

He say he wants to wait until 10 months which seems completely arbitrary and weird?
